Chapter 414 Family Scandals

Pelinka stood outside the villa, feeling a bit envious before finally heading in. In the villa's cozy little garden, under a white pavilion, Matilda had already set up some top-notch tea and fancy desserts, waiting for Pelinka.

They weren't exactly besties, but they knew each other. Since Pelinka made the first move to visit, Matilda was definitely going to give her a chance.

Matilda poured herself a cup of tea, took a sip, and then noticed the butler rushing over. "Mrs. Devereux is here," he announced.

Matilda put down her teacup. "Please, bring her over."

The butler nodded. "Sure thing."

Soon enough, Pelinka followed the butler to the pavilion in the garden.

When Pelinka saw Matilda, she knew she had to play nice. Even though she was a bit older, Matilda's wealth and social standing meant Pelinka had to show some respect. She put on her best enthusiastic and respectful act, walked over, and sat down next to her.

"Long time no see. I'm really sorry to bother you today."

Matilda smiled. "You're too kind. It's been ages since we last caught up. I'm glad you came by."

After some polite chit-chat, they got down to business.

"Matilda, I actually need your help with something today," Pelinka said, trying to look vulnerable. She even managed to squeeze out a few tears. "Otherwise, I wouldn't have dared to trouble you."

"What's going on?" Matilda asked, looking concerned. "If there's anything I can do, I will."

"Thank you, that means a lot," Pelinka said, quickly dabbing her eyes with a handkerchief. "It's really not a huge deal. It's just family stuff. I don't even know how to start."

"Go ahead. I'll do my best."

Pelinka nodded and started explaining, "A few days ago, Gerry wasn't feeling well and really missed Violet. So, we asked her to come back to visit him, but she flat-out refused. I couldn't take it and posted about it online, hoping she'd change her mind. But Brady keeps siding with Violet. We've always treated her well. How could she do this? She's not only rude to me but also refuses to see Gerry."

Pelinka's tone was deliberately soft, and Matilda frowned as she listened. Was it really Violet?

She remembered that Violet wasn't with the Devereux family anymore but didn't know the details.

Could there be more to this story?

And Violet didn't seem like the ungrateful type to ignore Gerry.

"Pelinka, maybe there's some misunderstanding? I don't think Violet is that kind of person," Matilda said gently.

Pelinka knew Matilda was biased towards Violet because she didn't know the whole story. She sneered inwardly. Violet had really managed to win Matilda over.
