Chapter 946 You Can Arrange a DNA Test, You and Julie Are Related
As soon as Jesse finished speaking, the once lively sacrificial site fell into complete silence.
Even Violet, who had been consumed with anxiety over Brady, was now staring at Jesse in shock, unable to utter a word.
Was this twist too unexpected?
Julie was actually Miles' sister?
So, did Brady know about this when he said everything would be fine?
Violet snapped out of her shock after a few seconds and looked at Brady. He was also looking at her, his gaze calm, as if he had known all along.
"Did you know about this before?" Violet asked, holding his hand.
"No, I only found out recently. Julie and Lance are Reuben's illegitimate children," Brady explained. He had only discovered this recently; if he had known earlier, he wouldn't have kept it a secret for so long. Before entering the stronghold, he had arranged for their contact here to find Jesse.
Jesse held significant authority in this base.
Having him reveal this information would be more acceptable to Miles than if Brady had said it himself.
"In that case, we should be fine. I was so worried just now," Violet said, her eyes welling up with tears again, but she was no longer as tense and anxious as before.
"We'll talk more when we get home," Brady said, still having many questions for her.
After all, Miles seemed to have his eyes on Violet.
Violet, thinking he was concerned about her health, nodded happily. "Okay, we'll talk when we get home."
Over by the stone altar.
Miles frowned and tightened his lips as he looked at Jesse, finding his words somewhat ridiculous.
His uncle Reuben had never married, so where did these children come from?
"Jesse, are you joking?" Miles asked, his voice heavy.
Jesse knew Miles wouldn't believe him. "You can arrange for a DNA test. You and Julie are related by blood; the test will confirm it."
Miles fell silent again.
His eyes darkened, and after a moment, he asked, "Why didn't you say anything before?"
"I only found out recently," Jesse sighed.
If he had known earlier, Julie wouldn't have been left out in the cold for so long.
"Miles, let Julie go. Reuben only has this one bloodline left."
Miles remained silent, unwilling to let her go. His eyes were dark, and the veins on his forehead bulged slightly. After a while, he angrily threw the gun in his hand to the ground and stormed out.
As soon as he left, everyone knew the sacrificial ceremony was over.
Brady and the others were safe.
Brady quickly pulled Violet over to Julie's cage and helped her to her feet.
Julie was still unconscious, likely due to the high dosage of drugs she had been given earlier. Seeing this, Jesse immediately ordered a subordinate, "Take her to a bedroom and take good care of her."
The subordinate understood and carried her away.
With Miles gone, the other subordinates saw no reason to stay and gradually left the sacrificial site.
The once-crowded site was now almost empty, leaving only a few people. Jesse stood there for a moment, then walked over to Brady and said, "Mr. Hall, you can leave now."
"Thank you," Brady said, not wanting Violet to stay any longer.
After a pause, Brady continued, "Jesse, please take care of Julie."
Jesse nodded. "Mr. Hall, don't worry. Julie is now Reuben's only daughter. We won't harm her."
"Thank you, Jesse. I'll send Julie a video message once she wakes up. And please, keep an eye on Miles."
Jesse nodded again.
Brady said no more and quickly led Violet away from the dangerous place, not wanting to risk staying any longer.
As they left the base, Miles stood at a window on the top floor, watching them. He saw Brady holding Violet's hand tightly as they disappeared through the base's gate.
His eyes were as penetrating and glacial as the moonlight outside.
He closed his eyes, and for a moment, darkness enveloped him. He saw the scene of them sinking into the sea together, her fearless gaze fixed on him... Even after many years, he would never forget her.
