Chapter 564 We Are Now on the Defensive, Don't Panic
After Brady and Arthur went inside, Calliope quickly got out of the taxi and hid in the bushes to observe the situation. The wall here was over six feet high.
So she could only wait outside for an opportunity to get in.
Inside the villa, Brady and his group were led by the young man in black through a rustic wooden corridor towards the main house.
The villa was square-shaped, and its architecture completely followed the style of Crestoria.
If it weren't known that this was a residence for gangsters, one might think it was a house built by some poetic scholar.
However, Brady had no interest in appreciating such a poetic villa. From the moment he entered, he kept observing the surroundings.
There was a person stationed at every corner of the corridor.
It seemed that Beckett was very cautious.
"Mr. Hall, Mr. Stanley, please have a seat inside. Beckett will be here shortly," the man in black said to Brady and Arthur.
Then he looked at Jason, and said, "Jason, please wait outside."
Jason knew that arranging a meeting with Beckett was uneasy to the Shadow Syndicate.
So he didn't say much, only told Brady, "Mr. Hall, I'll be waiting outside."
Brady nodded at him and went inside with Arthur.
Meanwhile, the main house was empty, and the room was quite spacious.
In the center, there was a small square table with a pot of tea on it, wisps of smoke rising and a fresh tea fragrance wafting out.
But there was no one in the room.
"Brady, be careful of traps." Arthur cautiously reminded Brady.
Brady understood and said, "Let's sit and wait for him."
Arthur nodded.
The two sat down by the table, waiting for Beckett to come, but even after half an hour, Beckett still hadn't shown up.
Arthur was getting restless and wanted to check, but Brady held him back and said, "Wait a bit longer. We are in a passive position now, so don't panic."
The fact that he agreed to meet meant he was willing to see him.
Even if he wanted to assassinate him, he wouldn't make him wait for half an hour. Besides, Jason was still outside. If Beckett was wary of the Shadow Syndicate's power, he wouldn't risk actually killing him.
So Brady remained patient.
Arthur continued to wait.
Meanwhile, in the hotel room.
Violet, not wanting to cause trouble, decided to wait for Calliope's help. Just as she had been waiting in the room for about ten minutes, someone knocked on the door. Then Violet went to open the door directly.
As soon as the door opened, someone threw a handful of white powder at her. Before Violet could react, she instantly lost consciousness.
When she woke up again, she found herself lying in a very traditionally styled room.
Violet immediately tried to call for help, but found that her mouth was stuffed with a ball. The ball was tied with an electronic strap that had a combination lock, making it impossible to remove or make any sound.
However, having been kidnapped by Emerson before, Violet was much calmer this time. She started trying to open the door.
As soon as her hand touched the doorknob, the door opened automatically, causing Violet to step back instantly.
She looked up towards the doorway.
Standing there was a bald middle-aged man in a gray silk robe. The man had sparse eyebrows, a gaunt face, and sunken eyes with dark circles underneath, making him look like a catfish.
Of course, that wasn't the scary part. The scary part was the long scar on the left side of his face, which extended from his cheek all the way down to his neck.
It looked like a disgusting snake.
Violet immediately looked at the middle-aged man warily.
