Chapter 798 I Could Use Some Relaxation
After Hellen withdrew her loving gaze, she went downstairs to invite James up.
A moment later, James slowly walked in, leaning on a cane.
Six months ago, he had two heart attacks here, which had taken a toll on his body. He was now unsteady on his feet and needed the support of a cane.
Seeing him enter, Violet walked over to help him towards the cradle. "Dad, did you come here by yourself?"
She knew Helen was also in Crestoria with him.
"Yeah, I didn't ask her to come over." James took a breath and looked at the baby girl sleeping in the cradle. "Is the little one still asleep?"
"Yeah, she had some milk this morning and has been sleeping for about half an hour."
"Then I won't stay long. I don't want to wake her." James didn't plan to go closer, afraid of disturbing the baby.
Violet didn't mind.
James had been restraining himself from visiting often, worried about being a bother, but she had seen his car parked outside her house several times. "It's okay, you rarely come by. You can join Henry and the others to see the baby."
"Can I stay here?" James was a bit delighted, worried that Violet wouldn't let him stay long.
"Of course, you're the kids' grandpa."
Violet said this casually, but it brought tears to James's eyes.
He had been waiting for Violet to acknowledge him, for the children to recognize him.
"Thank you for letting me spend time with the kids." James kept his voice low, afraid of waking the baby.
Holding back his tears, he gently took Violet's hand. "Violet, thank you for accepting me."
"Dad, it's such a good day. Let's not talk about sad things. You go spend time with the baby, and I'll have the maid prepare lunch. Why don't you stay for a meal today?"
James nodded, choking up. "Okay, okay."
Violet helped him over to the cradle and then said, "You should ask Helen to come over too. The past is behind us. There's no need to let old pains affect the present."
James was touched.
Violet was as kind-hearted as Evelyn.
"Whatever you say, I will listen to you."
"I'll have someone call her," Violet said and then went downstairs.
James slowly sat down by the cradle, his old eyes misting as he looked at the sweetly sleeping baby.
The tears he had been holding back finally fell.
In his life, he had hurt the woman he loved the most, and never expected Violet's forgiveness.
But Violet had chosen to forgive him, and he would spend the rest of his time making up for his biggest mistake and guilt with Evelyn and Violet.
Later, her good friend Emily came to visit.
Emily had been down for a long time after being rejected by Lucien and had gone abroad for further studies for a few months.
She had just returned recently and immediately found out that Violet had given birth.
She rushed over, excited to see the baby and catch up with Violet.
Violet was also happy to see her after such a long time.
The two women immediately started chatting, completely ignoring Brady, who had just returned.
They cooed over the baby and talked about all sorts of personal matters.
After a while, Emily suddenly remembered that her mom had opened a new wellness center.
She quickly took out a VIP card and handed it to Violet. "Here, this is your reward for having the baby."
Violet took it and saw it was a year-long free VIP card for a beauty spa.
She was about to say thank you when Brady walked over, took the VIP card from her, and said with a hint of jealousy, "Shouldn't the reward for having the baby come from me?"
Emily couldn't help but laugh at the sight of Brady acting like a doting husband. "Mr. Hall, are you jealous?"
"I can't help it. Violet deserves rewards from me." Brady smiled.
Emily felt like she was going to get a cavity from all this sweetness.
Unfortunately, she was still single and couldn't retaliate with her own love story.
"Don't be like that. Emily's gift is a friend's gesture, and I want it." Violet wanted to give Emily some dignity, so she took the VIP card back from Brady with a smile.
After a pause, Violet suddenly had an idea. "Emily, how about we go to your mom's spa tonight? I've been cooped up at home for so long after having the baby. I could use some relaxation."
