Chapter 57 Weren't you waiting for me here? Why do I have to let go?
"I'll stay for a bit, then I'll head back. They're waiting for me," Violet chatted with Emily on the sofa for a while and checked the time. It was already past 9 o'clock.
She should go back and spend time with her babies.
"Mm, you have a baby now, so I won't keep you." Emily was still adjusting to the fact that her friend Violet had transitioned from being a young girl to a mother.
"Mm, in the future, come to my place, well, Hellen's, and I'll introduce you to Henry and Nicole."
Emily was taken aback. "Wow, two? Twins?"
Violet nodded.
Emily was amazed. Violet's family was incredible, to have twins.
"Well, I should go now." Violet checked the time and got up.
Emily stood up as well and walked her to the door. "If you ever have to work late, come to my place, it's convenient."
Violet nodded.
She gently closed the door and turned around to take the elevator downstairs.
After taking just a few steps, the elevator at the end of the top floor hallway chimed and opened. Brady, holding his brow, walked out with long strides, coincidentally coming face to face with Violet.
Both of them looked at each other, stunned.
Violet was the first to react and quickly greeted him, "Mr. Hall." Without waiting for his response, she hurriedly walked past him, faster than anyone else, heading for the elevator.
Brady glanced at her and, as she brushed past him, suddenly grabbed her wrist and pulled her towards him, asking, "What are you doing here? Are you following me?"
Violet: ...
She didn't have the courage to follow him.
Shaking her head, she replied, "No, my friend lives here."
"I'm the only one living on this floor," Brady said, unaware that someone had moved in across the hall today.
"No, my friend lives here, she's in that apartment" Violet pointed and showed him.
Brady furrowed his brows deeper. "Are you lying to me? I've been living here for so long, there's only me."
Violet knew he didn't believe her.
Taking a deep breath, she said firmly, "You let me go there, I'll knock on the door, and my friend will be on the other side."
"No need," Brady impatiently interrupted her. Suddenly feeling annoyed, his tone became unfriendly. "Do you know Arthur?"
Actually, when he asked that question, he should have realized that his behavior was somewhat inappropriate.
He could have just ignored her, treated her as if she didn't exist.
But recently, there had been many unusual things happening, with his best friend suddenly asking for someone.
And now he randomly encountered her here, which made him feel inexplicably frustrated.
He even felt slightly displeased that this woman seemed to attract men's pursuit so easily.
Arthur?
Violet paused, trying to recall who this person was.
Finally, she remembered, the Stanley family from one of the four major families.
She had heard of him before.
But they didn't have much interaction.
Violet didn't understand why he asked about Arthur.
The Stanley family was mentioned, and Brady couldn't help but wonder how they knew each other.
He felt that Violet was not an ordinary woman.
Violet replied, "Well, we know each other, but we're not close."
As she spoke, she tried to break free from his grasp and asked him to let go. Brady, however, forcefully pushed her against the wall and pinned her down, asking why she wanted him to let go when she was waiting for him.
Violet was truly surprised by his words and wondered if she had misunderstood him. She had no idea he lived here too!
