Chapter 624 Gerry's still My Dad?
"So, Gerry's still my dad?" Violet asked, her brow furrowed with doubt.
She couldn't shake the feeling that if Gerry had really gotten Evelyn pregnant, he wouldn't have been so cold towards her and Evelyn.
"Yeah, of course," Hellen replied, though she wasn't entirely sure of the details herself.
Her sister Evelyn hadn't said much at the time, and eventually, she just married Gerry.
Hellen couldn't believe her sister would marry Gerry while carrying another man's child.
Violet bit her lip.
No, she felt this situation wasn't that simple. She needed to visit Gerry in prison.
With that decision made, Violet arranged a time to visit Gerry in prison.
Meanwhile, at the Devereux villa.
Ever since the internet was abuzz with rumors about the Hall family's matriarch having a background in nightclubs, Eileen and Lilian had been in high spirits.
They didn't believe that the Hall family would still accept Violet after her dirty past was exposed.
So, the mother and daughter were in a great mood and decided to spend the afternoon shopping at high-end stores with the small inheritance left by Violet's mother.
However, Violet's mother's inheritance wasn't much and certainly not enough to cover their luxury brand expenses.
After browsing the mall for a while, they could only afford items under ten thousand dollars.
As they were shopping, Violet happened to be there as well.
Despite the online attacks on her and the Hall Group, she couldn't stay cooped up at home and needed to buy things for her kids.
So, when she reached the same floor as Eileen and Lilian, they ran into each other.
The mother and daughter were carrying bags full of their shopping spoils as they exited a luxury store, only to see Violet with a single, modest-looking bag and no bodyguards in sight.
They assumed the Hall family was about to abandon her and couldn't resist flaunting their superiority. Eileen, who harbored a deep grudge against Violet, sneered, "Oh, you're about to be kicked out and become a discarded woman, yet you still have time to shop? Shouldn't you be thinking about how to get more alimony?"
"Do you think everyone is as greedy as you?" Violet retorted coldly.
Eileen's face darkened at her words, and she snorted, "You're about to be discarded, and you're still stubborn? Do you think you can still be favored? Try talking back to me again, and see if I don't tear your mouth apart!"
"If you lay a finger on me, I'll make sure your hand is useless," Violet said icily, not backing down. She paused, then glanced at Lilian, who was glaring at her as well, and sneered, "By the way, when my husband and I had our public wedding, it was you two who caused trouble, wasn't it?"
"Don't make baseless accusations without evidence," Lilian replied mockingly.
Violet hadn't officially divorced Brady yet. She wasn't about to confess.
"I don't need evidence. I know it was you. But let me tell you, my husband will never divorce me. You're wrong about that," Violet said, lifting her chin with a cold, disdainful expression. "And let me warn you, don't mess with me again. I can make the Devereux family go bankrupt once, and I can make sure you never come back here."
With that, she turned to leave, but Lilian, infuriated by her arrogance, grabbed her hand and said, "What are you so proud of? You're about to be abandoned, and you still dare to act like the lady of the house in front of me? Do you think I'm afraid of you? You're delusional!"
Without a word, Violet raised her hand and slapped her hard.
This slap was for her mother.
She wouldn't let those who insulted her get away with it.
Lilian was stunned by the sudden slap, covering her right cheek with her hand, her eyes blazing with anger as she prepared to fight back.
Eileen, seeing her daughter slapped, couldn't stand it and moved to hit Violet as well.
But before they could act, several bodyguards appeared out of nowhere, roughly grabbing the mother and daughter and pinning them against the railing.
