Max heard the reporter's snarky question and immediately put on his game face. "Mister, I don't know where you got that nonsense. Yeah, Ms. DeVere just graduated, but all her designs are 100% her own work. No help needed."
The reporter, clearly on Fanny's payroll, kept pushing. "Mr. Green, you said yourself Ms. DeVere is fresh out of school. Newbies in design usually copy the pros. So, it's fair to think your JK designers might've ripped off someone else's work for this show."
Max was fuming. Only a reporter could spew such garbage. "This is ridiculous. Our JK designs are always original. Stop throwing around baseless accusations. When the show pieces drop, everyone will see the truth."
After Max's icy response, Fanny, acting all casual, grabbed the mic. "Mr. Green, I gotta side with the reporter here. When Ms. DeVere was with us, I rarely saw her actually designing, yet she cranked out 10 finished pieces in no time. It's only natural to have some doubts."
"Fanny, you and the others know damn well whether Violet plagiarized or got help!" Max was about to blow a gasket. What should've been a chill design reveal had turned into a mudslinging circus.
This was trashing JK's rep.
Max wasn't having it.
Fanny, already looking to jump ship, didn't give a damn about JK's image. The sooner JK tanked, the sooner she could ditch the frustration of working with Violet.
Fanny said, "Mr. Green, like I said, we're just stating facts. No one's trying to slander Ms. DeVere."
