Chapter 774 Brady's Brain Lost Control
Charlotte didn't think much of it and started rubbing her foot with an ice pack.
But just as she began, Brady stepped aside with his phone and called Calliope.
"Hey, Calliope, can you come up and help Charlotte out?" he asked. "I can't have a woman staying in my room; Violet would get upset."
Sitting on the couch, Charlotte overheard him calling Calliope and frowned.
Was Brady doing this because Violet was coming over? So he didn't want a woman in his room?
But today, she was determined to stay.
After listening to Brady's instructions to Calliope, Charlotte lowered her head, continued rubbing her foot, and texted Calliope.
She couldn't let anyone ruin her plan for today.
[Calliope, did Mr. Hall ask you to come up and take me downstairs?]
Calliope had just hung up with Brady and was about to grab her room key when she received Charlotte's message.
She thought it was a coincidence and replied: [Yeah, I'm coming up right now.]
Charlotte: [Calliope, no need. I'm already downstairs.]
Calliope was surprised.
Brady had said she twisted her ankle and needed help to get down. How did she recover so quickly? [Charlotte, can you come down by yourself? Don't push yourself. I'm on my way.]
Charlotte wanted to curse her for meddling. [Really, it's not that bad. Mr. Hall is just being considerate. You don't need to come up. I'm heading to the restaurant to grab a bite.]
Calliope was half-convinced. [Can you make it downstairs?]
Charlotte: [Yes. Why don't you wait for me at the restaurant?]
Calliope thought for a moment and replied, [Okay, I'll go to the restaurant. But if you can't make it, call me immediately. We're good friends now.]
Charlotte smirked, thinking how foolish Calliope was. If she weren't useful, Charlotte wouldn't bother being friends with her.
[Sure, you go ahead.]
Calliope: [Okay.]
After their exchange, Charlotte confirmed that Calliope wouldn't be coming up.
She continued to rub her foot while Brady stood nearby, reviewing the contract documents to see if he had missed anything earlier.
The room fell into a quiet rhythm, each absorbed in their tasks.
The air grew still, and Brady was fully engrossed in the contract, paying no further attention to her.
Time ticked by.
The aphrodisiac in the perfume capsule around Charlotte's neck began to take effect in the air.
Brady, reading the documents, started to notice a sweet scent in the air.
It was like a mix of fresh mango pudding and peaches still wet with morning dew.
It was incredibly enticing.
Even a man with Brady's self-control felt his head spinning from the scent.
His vision blurred, making it hard to focus.
This felt wrong. Brady dropped the contract, bracing himself against the desk with one hand while pressing his forehead with the other, trying to clear his head.
But it was barely working.
He thought about taking a cold shower to snap out of it. But first, he needed Charlotte to leave.
To avoid any unnecessary misunderstandings.
Brady, struggling to maintain control, said, "Ms. Devereux, I'm not feeling well. Could you please step outside and wait for Calliope to come get you?"
Charlotte noticed his flushed face, knowing the capsule was working.
She smirked and, pretending to be concerned, slowly stood up, holding onto the couch for support. "Mr. Hall, are you okay?"
As she spoke, she moved towards the floor-to-ceiling window, inching closer to Brady.
When she was near enough to the man radiating intense pheromones, she reached out and gently grasped his strong wrist, asking softly, "Mr. Hall, do you need my help?"
