Chapter 754 I Just Don't Want to Be Involved with Her Family

Violet and Calliope were the first to arrive.
Violet, thinking it was just the two of them, smiled brightly. "Calliope, how come you had time to invite me to lunch today?"
Calliope, feeling a bit guilty, replied, "It's been a while since we had a meal together, so I made some time to invite you."
She wanted to help Charlotte, but was worried Violet might have objections.
However, Charlotte was a good person, so Violet probably wouldn't be too upset, right?
"Sure, I have a lot of free time. You can ask me out for lunch anytime," Violet said, taking a sip from her water glass.
Calliope nodded, her gaze softening as it fell on Violet's rounded belly.
Curiously, she asked, "Violet, are you due in three or four months?"
Violet nodded, "Yeah, about that."
"Then the Hall family will have another little one soon."
"Yep, three kids. They'll be a handful," Violet said, already imagining the chaos of three children playing together.
"By the way," Calliope was about to ask more about the baby when Charlotte arrived.
As always, she was dressed in a stylish yet sexy business suit.
Her presence naturally drew attention.
However, her looks couldn't compare to Violet's.
Alone, she was quite striking, but next to Violet, the difference was clear.
Her beauty quickly paled in comparison to Violet's stunning appearance.
Especially since the gazes that had been on her shifted immediately to Violet, making Charlotte feel a twinge of jealousy.
But she couldn't show it.
She put on a gentle and elegant demeanor, standing in front of Violet. "Mrs. Hall, hello."
Violet looked at her, a bit surprised. "What are you doing here?"
Before Violet could say more, Calliope quickly explained, "Violet, I invited her to join us for lunch. You don't mind, do you?"
Violet glanced at Calliope, who was looking at her with hopeful eyes.
She couldn't refuse and said, "No, I don't mind."
In truth, she was very reluctant to dine with Charlotte.
Even though Charlotte claimed she wouldn't be like Lilian, it still made her uncomfortable.
But she didn't want to hurt Calliope's feelings, so she reluctantly agreed to let Charlotte join them for lunch.
Seeing Violet's acceptance, Charlotte obediently sat down next to Calliope.
"Now that everyone is here, let's order," Violet said, not wanting to waste time.
She was worried she might lose her appetite.
"Sure," Charlotte agreed.
The three of them, each with their thoughts, began to order and eat.
Half an hour later, lunch was over.
During the meal, Charlotte remained well-behaved, not saying anything unnecessary to annoy Violet.
As they left the restaurant, Charlotte said, "Mrs. Hall, there's an old bakery nearby that makes amazing rice cakes. Would you like to try some?"
Rice cakes were Violet's favorite.
Violet looked at her cautiously.
How did she know?
"Don't misunderstand. I ate here before and discovered the bakery. I love their rice cakes too. I wasn't sure if you would like them," Charlotte explained.
"She loves them," Calliope chimed in, trying to bridge the gap between them.
"That's great! I'll go get some for you," Charlotte said, not giving Violet a chance to refuse. She turned and jogged in her high heels towards the bakery.
Violet and Calliope stood waiting. Watching Charlotte's enthusiastic retreat, Calliope couldn't help but speak up for her again. "Violet, she's nice. Could you maybe not be so cold to her?"
Violet was silent for a moment. "Calliope, it's not that I'm cold to her. I just don't want any ties with her family."
It made her uneasy.
Because she had decided to completely sever ties with the Devereux family.
But seeing Charlotte reminded her of them.
"I understand, but maybe you could try," Calliope said softly.
Violet glanced at her.
It was hard to refuse such a pure-hearted girl.
She hesitated for a few seconds, about to say something, when suddenly, a piercing scream came from the nearby bakery.
It was Charlotte's voice.
