Chapter 999 He is afraid that Lucien will come to snatch people, and then he will have nothing to do with it

The next day, Emily woke up feeling anxious and irritable.

She dragged herself out of bed and headed to the bathroom to freshen up. When she looked in the mirror, she noticed her usually clear complexion looked dull and yellowish.

Emily quickly splashed cold water on her face, hoping to revive her skin.

But today, she had to take her dad for a check-up.

If what Lucien said was true, should she still go to Austin's friend?

But if she didn't go?

Wouldn't that delay her dad's treatment?

Emily started to feel conflicted again. She turned off the faucet, quickly brushed her teeth and washed her face, and stepped out of the bathroom. The doorbell of her suite rang.

After Lucien's visit yesterday, Emily was cautious this time. She didn't open the door immediately but asked, "Who is it?"

"Emily, it's me, Austin."

It was Austin?

Emily instantly felt relieved and went to open the door.

When she opened the door, Austin held up a breakfast bag and smiled, "Hey, Emily. I got you breakfast. It's a special breakfast from the area where Crestoria people gather."

Emily glanced at the bag in his hand and felt a bit touched. "Did you get up really early?"

This place was quite far from the Crestoria area. For him to get breakfast so early, he must have been up by 5 AM.

"Not too early. I'm used to getting up early. Should I bring breakfast in?" Austin said as he walked in.

As he entered, he instinctively observed her suite. Seeing the bed was messy, but it only had her clothes on it, Austin felt a bit relieved.

He was worried Lucien might come and take her away, leaving him out of the picture.

"Thanks," Emily said, closing the door.

She followed him inside.

Austin placed the porridge on a table by the window and said, "Eat it while it's hot. It won't taste as good if it gets cold."

Emily walked over and watched him open the lid.

It was her favorite porridge, made with nuts and oatmeal.

He really put thought into it.

Emily's previously agitated mood improved a bit, and she sat down to eat breakfast.

"So, how's the taste compared to Crestoria? Is it okay?" Austin asked, worried that Emily, being a wealthy girl used to good food, might not like it.

"It's okay. Not as authentic as Crestoria, but it's good enough," Emily said, scooping up spoonfuls to taste.

After eating half a bowl, she remembered the check-up today. "Austin, did you arrange everything for my dad?"

"Everything's set. My friend is available this afternoon," Austin said confidently.

The afternoon didn't conflict with the time Lucien gave her, but should she go?

While Emily was debating this, Lucien's message arrived as expected: [I'll be waiting for you at 10 AM.]

Emily frowned, unsure whether to reply.

Austin noticed her expression and asked with concern, "Emily, what's wrong? Is something bothering you?"

Emily snapped back to reality and looked at Austin's concerned face. Suddenly, she felt that keeping in touch with Lucien was wrong. How was she different from a man who played both sides?

Moreover, she should trust her boyfriend, not Lucien.

So, in that moment, she decisively blocked Lucien's number.

"It's nothing. We'll go to your friend's place this afternoon," she said, deciding to trust Austin and not be swayed by Lucien.

Lucien sent Emily a message, but didn't receive a reply.

He had to send another one, only to find out she had blocked him.

This wasn't Crestoria, so he couldn't immediately get another SIM card to contact her.

He could only frown slightly and press his fingers against his brow, trying to calm his frustration.

He had anticipated this.

Emily was very hostile towards him now and wouldn't trust him unless he went to see Austin's friend.

With that thought, Lucien decided not to waste time and went to meet Austin's friend first.
