Chapter 237 Isn't It just Because Violet Seduced Him?
As twilight descended, Max found himself ensconced within the confines of the director's office, diligently wrapping up the final vestiges of his workday before departing for the evening's social gathering. Emerging from the office, he sauntered into the bustling hub of the designer's workspace. Clapping his hands together to command attention, he announced, "Everyone, prepare yourselves. Tonight, dinner is on me.""Mr. Green, you're looking particularly dashing today!" The designers sprang to their feet, their applause echoing through the office as they lavished him with compliments."Mr. Green, where are we dining this evening? Do we have plans following our meal?" one designer queried.Another chimed in, "Yes, Mr. Green, where are we going to have dinner? And is there anything else planned after dinner?"
"How about having fun in a singing bar after dinner?" one suggested."I'd rather dance!" another countered."So, will we be singing or dancing?" a third designer asked, voicing the collective uncertainty."Let's decide after dinner. We can draw lots to make the decision," someone suggested.
"It sounds good." Others agreed, finding this method fair.
Violet, for her part, was indifferent. As long as the evening didn't stretch into the wee hours, she was content. She had two young kids awaiting her return home."Alright, let's get ready then," Max responded, his demeanor easygoing. As long as his team was content, he was satisfied with the arrangement. His primary objective for the evening, however, was to confess his feelings to Violet. That was his main task."Great, let's get moving!" The team began their preparations, their spirits high.Laura and Fanny, however, held no such enthusiasm. Yet, with Max footing the bill, these two senior employees found it difficult to decline the invitation. Despite their numerous grievances, they donned masks of joviality and joined the group.During the car ride to the dining venue, Fanny, nestled in Laura's car, dropped her pretense. She candidly asked, "Fanny, have you given any thought to the new opportunities at EU I mentioned previously?" EU was a prominent design firm."I'll consider it," Fanny replied, not outright rejecting the prospect of joining EU. However, EU represented an entirely new platform for her, and she was uncertain if her qualifications would garner the same respect as they did at JK.The designers at EU were industry leaders, and Fanny felt somewhat inadequate in comparison. She feared that leaving JK might not prove beneficial."What's there to consider?" Laura questioned, her grip tightening on the steering wheel, her gaze fixed on the road ahead. "You're aware that Mr. Green is taking Violet, an intern, to Paris for a design event, right?"
"Don't you find it infuriating? Despite your qualifications, he's chosen a recent graduate over you," Laura's words were a direct assault on Fanny's pride. "It's clear he's no longer interested in nurturing experienced designers. He's focusing on the newcomers."Fanny scoffed at Laura's revelation. "Isn't it just because Violet has been seducing him?" Realizing her faux pas - Laura had long harbored feelings for Max - she quickly added, "Sorry, I tend to speak too candidly when she's the topic of conversation. Please, don't take it to heart."Laura's expression remained impassive, but a hint of melancholy clouded her eyes. She said calmly, without much anger, "It is fine. I stopped caring about him a long time ago.""Is that so?" Fanny found Laura's claim hard to believe. Laura's infatuation with Max had spanned years.Preferring to steer clear of such entanglements, Fanny changed the subject. "I'll mull over the EU opportunity for a few more days.""Alright, but don't dawdle. It's a rare opportunity," Laura advised, fully aware of Fanny's reservations. 'She's just worried about not being able to secure a respectable position at EU, isn't she? What's there to fear? I've got her back,' Laura mused."I understand," Fanny sighed, her gaze drifting out the car window.
