Chapter 687 She is Fine Now
"So, you're really hiding her?" Brady's eyes darted from the bodyguards to the priest, sharp as a knife. "If I call the cops, this church is toast."
The priest's face went pale, understanding the weight of Brady's threat. After a tense pause, he said, "She probably went deeper into the forest."
"Can you show me the way? I'm not familiar with this area," Brady pressed.
The priest didn't want to get involved, but he'd already given Eileen refuge, breaking the law. If he kept resisting, the church would be in serious trouble.
After weighing his options, the priest nodded reluctantly.
Emerald Ridge Mountain was familiar territory for the priest. He could navigate the forest blindfolded, having grown up there.
With the priest agreeing to lead, Brady's search for Juniper became much easier. As they headed into the forest, Brady called Ethan to update him, reassuring him that Juniper was close to being found.
Ethan felt a huge weight lift off his shoulders upon hearing the news. Asking Brady for help had been the right call. Brady was incredibly capable.
Ethan then went to the hospital to visit James and Helen, sharing the good news with them.
Meanwhile, Brady continued the search in the forest. They followed narrow trails, moving deeper into the woods.
By now, dusk was settling in, the sky painted with a dim, fiery red glow that cast an eerie hue over the treetops. Brady glanced up, his expression darkening.
Nightfall was approaching.
The later it got, the worse it would be for them.
"Which way do you think she went?" Brady asked the priest leading the way.
The priest wasn't sure which path she had taken, so he said, "I can't be certain. She hid here, but I didn't know she planned to escape into the forest."
"Then trust your instincts and lead us," Brady said, having no choice but to rely on the priest.
The priest sighed and nodded. "Rest assured, I understand the importance of life." When Eileen had brought Juniper to him, the priest had tried to dissuade her.
She had assured her that nothing would happen, that she just needed Juniper's father to help her, and once he did, she would let her go.
The priest had believed her.
In hindsight, she had been too naive.
"Alright," Brady said, continuing forward with her.
They searched diligently, moving deeper into the forest. After about ten minutes, Brady suddenly noticed something shiny in the bushes ahead.
He quickly strode over and picked up a bracelet from the shrubbery, examining it.
This must have been left by Juniper on purpose.
After inspecting it, Brady immediately told the priest and the bodyguards, "Follow this path."
Eileen and Juniper should be just ahead.
They continued their search along the path.
Meanwhile, Eileen, sitting under a tree, was glaring at Juniper, who was also sitting nearby. It was all because of James. If he had agreed to help her sooner, to save Lilian, she wouldn't have had to kill Pelinka and kidnap Juniper.
Now, it was too late.
She had no way out.
Every path led to a dead end.
Given the situation, should she take out her anger on Juniper?
With this thought, Eileen's eyes turned cold and venomous. She gripped the sharp knife in her hand, ready to slash Juniper's face, to disfigure her.
Especially since Juniper looked quite a bit like Violet.
Seeing Juniper's face reminded her of that wretched Violet. Violet had it good now, married into the wealthy Hall family, living a life of luxury.
Meanwhile, she and Lilian were despised and rejected by everyone. How could she not be bitter and angry at such a disparity?
