Chapter 24 This separation has been about five or six years
If she deliberately makes her make mistakes, she can immediately get rid of her from JK.
Thinking of this, Laura's mood improved slightly.
She will definitely make this slut leave JK.
The JK meeting quickly assembled most of the colleagues from the company's design department in a spacious conference room.
Violet was still in her internship period, so she couldn't sit behind the conference table with the more experienced designers. Instead, she moved a chair to a corner of the meeting room and began attentively listening to Max's meeting while holding her notebook.
The main topic of the meeting was the company's plans and development of high-end clients for the second half of the year.
The meeting lasted for an hour.
Everyone expressed their opinions on this topic during the meeting, and Violet, knowing that she was just an intern, didn't dare to offer any opinions.
She obediently acted as a fly on the wall, meticulously taking notes.
After the meeting, everyone went back to work.
Laura had originally planned to give Violet a hard time, but her supervisor suddenly assigned her to the clothing factory.
She had no way to scheme against Violet.
Violet managed to evade trouble today.
During lunch break, Violet took the opportunity to sneak home and breastfeed her babies before returning to the office.
Just as she entered the company, her phone rang.
Violet picked up her phone and saw that it was her long-lost best friend.
Violet looked at the name on the screen, a name she hadn't heard from in a long time. At first, Violet was taken aback, but then she swiped open her cell phone screen and answered, "Hello, Emily?"
"It's me, Violet. I'm coming back to the country soon," Emily's excited voice came through the screen.
Upon hearing this familiar voice, Violet instantly felt as if they were worlds apart.
Emily and Violet had grown up together, but when they graduated high school, Violet chose to study abroad while she, due to Eileen's circumstances, couldn't go and had to separate from her.
Little did they know, this separation lasted for almost five or six years.
They hadn't seen each other in five or six years.
Violet couldn't help but feel a lump in her throat.
"Emily... are you really coming back?" Violet snapped back to reality; her voice choked with excitement. "So, you won't be leaving the country again, right?"
"Of course not, I'm coming back to inherit the family business," Emily's voice sounded excited and happy compared to Violet's choked emotions.
It had been so many years since she had seen her dearest friend.
They had grown up together, and they had made a pact as children to study abroad together after finishing their college entrance exams.
To see the moon by the Seine River together, to drink beer and sing love songs together.
To explore all of Paris by bike together.
But then something happened in the Devereux family. Violet's mother was forced to leave the Devereux family by her lover and fell seriously ill, so she couldn't go abroad with her anymore.
Over the years, she had tried to stay in touch with her.
But perhaps because of what happened in the Devereux family, Violet rarely spoke to her happily like before.
But it didn't matter; she was coming back this time.
She had the ability, and she would definitely help her dear Violet.
"That's great, after you come back... we'll be able to see each other often," Violet sniffed and got to the point. "But... I'm no longer a part of the Devereux family now... I'm not the Devereux family's young miss anymore... will you look down on me?"
"How could I, Violet... you're my best friend, for life," Emily said resolutely.
She wasn't like her step-sister who plotted against her.
"Well, when exactly are you coming back?" Violet still trusted her.
"Tomorrow," Emily said. "I'll throw a party when I come back, come over then."
"Alright," Violet agreed on a time with her before hanging up the phone.
She hurriedly got on the elevator.
She was in a rush to go home and feed her two little darlings.
As a result, she was a few minutes late.
Violet hurried back to the company, just in time before the afternoon work hours.
She wasn't late, so she didn't have to worry about being deducted from her bonus.
The afternoon went by quickly, and before she knew it, it was time to finish work.
Violet hurriedly packed her things to prepare to leave.
Max looked out from the lily window behind his office and saw Violet in the office area, picking up her bag to leave.
He immediately picked up the intercom in his office and called her, "Hello, Ms. Devereux, come to my office now."
Violet was about to leave to go home to see her two little darlings, but because of his call, she had to put down the design drawings she was taking home and go to his office.
She knocked on the door.
Max let her in, and Violet pushed the door open and saw the man leaning against the desk. She politely said, "Mr. Green, do you need something?"
"Oh, yes, I do," Max said with a gentle smile.
"Next, I will have you accompany me to dine with a client."
Dine with a client??
Violet was taken aback and somewhat surprised. After all, she was just an intern designer. In terms of qualifications and seniority, she shouldn't have the eligibility to accompany the director to meet clients, right?
"Mr. Green... me... should I go?"
"Of course, freshen up and let's go." Max simply wanted to spend more time with her. The daytime at work was too busy, and the office was crowded, making it inconvenient for him to have more interactions with her.
He could only use the excuse of dining with the client to have more contact with her.
"Mr. Green... I'm just an intern now... and it might not be appropriate for me to accompany you to meet the clients, right?" Violet hesitated, as she wasn't particularly fond of dining with clients.
Especially when she had two little ones at home who needed her care!
"What's inappropriate about it?" Max knew she was reluctant, so he deliberately said, "I have great expectations for you, and I want to groom you well."
Since Mr. Green had put it that way...
Violet couldn't possibly decline and nodded in agreement.
