Chapter 378 Brady Was Enjoying the Feeling of Being a Dad
The next day, Violet rolled outta bed like any other day, ready to hit the grind, while Lilian was scheming to blow up Violet's spot for ditching her dad on the show.
But Gerry had been up all night, stressing that Lilian's plan might totally backfire.
After all, everyone knew Violet got the boot from the DeVere family!
Plus, Gerry was still the big boss at DeVere Group. If folks saw him looking all sickly, his rep would take a nosedive.
He wasn't about that life.
So when Pelinka and Eileen swung by to check on him, Gerry couldn't help but spill his worries to Pelinka. "Mom, you sure it's cool for Lilian to drop my pics?"
Pelinka shot him a look and snapped, "What are you scared of? It's totally fine. This'll trash Violet's rep for sure."
Gerry knew it would mess her up, but he was worried about Brady stepping in. "Mom, you remember Violet's with Brady, right? And I'm still the CEO. If Lilian shows me looking all weak, how am I supposed to keep my status in the biz world?"
Pelinka shrugged it off. "So what if she's with Brady? She can't just erase her DeVere roots." She tapped his forehead and said, "Chill, Lilian's got this. She won't show your face. Besides, everyone in the biz already knows you're not in great shape."
"But I'm still the CEO," Gerry couldn't swallow his pride.
"Gerry, we gotta take Violet down now. If she decides to come after us, you think DeVere Group will stay solid?" Pelinka saw the bigger picture. She knew Violet would come after them for her mom's sake.
Pelinka figured they had to strike first. "Violet's just like her mom. We've never treated her right. Now she's with Brady, she might go all out against us. You think she cares about family ties? And don't forget, Violet once threw water at me. I'm her grandma, and she didn't even respect me. You think she'll spare you after what you did to her mom?"
Eileen jumped in, "Yeah, Gerry, just listen to Mom and go with it." She backed up her mother-in-law, "Plus, DeVere Group's not doing great this year. You've already sold off a ton of stocks. What's the point of worrying about your image now?"
Eileen added, "We need to figure out how to stop Violet from coming after us, or we might end up with nothing!"
Gerry went quiet, then sighed, "Fine, do whatever you want." He was out of options.
DeVere Group was tanking. If Violet came after them, they'd be toast.
"Then it's settled," Pelinka said with a nasty grin.
Gerry had no choice but to roll with Pelinka and Eileen.
Meanwhile, Violet was up early, heading to the kitchen to whip up breakfast for the twins. They were growing fast, and she wanted to make some hearty meat dishes for them.
Just as she got to the kitchen, Brady, who'd been up even earlier and already had a workout in, strolled over in a fresh T-shirt and said, "You cooking breakfast today?"
Violet turned to him, a bit surprised. The early morning light made him look even more handsome, with his dark hair falling over his forehead, especially in that casual T-shirt.
There was something irresistibly sexy about him. Violet blinked and nodded, "Yeah, I'm making meatballs for the kids."
"I'll help you." Brady, loving his new dad role, walked over and started helping out.
