Chapter 129 So... those kids really aren't his?

When the attorney turned his back, the vast, opulent office fell into a silence so deep you could hear a pin drop.

This kind of silence made Mr. Taylor uneasy; he loathed eavesdropping on his boss above all else.

He lived by the creed: The more you know, the worse off you are.

So after a few seconds of hesitation, he took the initiative, “Mr. Hall, I’ll wait outside the door. If you need anything, just call me.”

Mr. Taylor blurted this out quickly and strode towards the door without waiting for Brady Hall to respond.

He swung the door open, then shut it with a loud thud behind him.

The luxurious office returned to its former tranquility.

“Ms. Devereux, I'm a bit curious,” Brady Hall spoke up, fixing his gaze on her slightly rigid expression.

His voice was casual, mingled with the cool, minty scent of the cigarette he had just smoked.

His breath, warm yet refreshing, didn't suffocate but was surprisingly pleasant.

No wonder every woman in New York wanted to kiss Brady Hall.

The man wasn’t just handsome; there was a crispness to his thin lips and a commanding presence in his scent that was altogether intoxicating.

Violet could practically feel her pores prickle under his breath.

Gathering her wits amidst the chaos, Violet hastily tried to push him away and stand up, "Mr. Hall, this is my private matter. You seem to have no right to pry, do you?" She knew dealing with a tycoon like Brady Hall wouldn’t be easy.

Deceiving him was tough.

And yet, she doubted he would stoop to denial after seeing a paternity report.

That just wasn't his style.

“Certainly, I have no right to interfere with Ms. Devereux's personal matters, but... considering our one night together... I have my suspicions, don't I?” Brady Hall's gaze was intense, his probing eyes fixing on Violet Devereux.

He was trying to detect the slightest irregularity on her face.

To be honest, he still had his doubts about the authenticity of the paternity report.

But he trusted Mr. Taylor.

He was certain there'd be no deception.

So... those kids really weren't his?
"So what if we spent one night together?" Violet Devereux said, pushing hard against the man who stood unyielding like a brick wall. Flustered and at her wits' end, she simply gave up resisting and stated firmly, "Mr. Hall, I've told you, I'm on the pill; there won't be a pregnancy, I've never had one."

"Oh, really?" Brady Hall narrowed his eyes menacingly, regarding Violet with a wolfish gaze.

The intensity of his stare made Violet uneasy. She pursed her lips and continued with composure, "Yes, Mr. Hall. Can you let go of me now? Would this be considered workplace harassment?"

"The recent report came out, and the results have nothing to do with you. I hope Mr. Hall will stop making this difficult for me."

Hearing this, Brady Hall let out a terse huff and released his grip from around her waist, allowing her to step away.

Violet tried to stand up from his lap, her moves slightly awkward, and her only thought was to leave as quickly as possible.

Brady turned a pillbox over in his hands, his expression unreadable. In a cool, detached tone, he said, "Take these medicines home; your doctor mentioned you are weak."

"I'm not weak from childbirth, Mr. Hall. I don't need them, but thank you for your concern," Violet replied, eager to depart.

She wanted to leave right away—let him keep whatever postpartum remedies for himself.

"Ms. Devereux, do you expect me to personally deliver it to your office at JK?" Brady challenged casually, spinning the supplement box with his fingers. "Is that what you want?"

Violet was startled; the last thing she wanted was for him to come to JK with the medicine.

Gritting her teeth and hesitating only a moment, she strode over, swiftly grabbed the medicines he offered, and said, "Thanks, Mr. Hall." Then she turned and headed for the door.

As she reached the office entrance, her fingers just touching the handle, she heard the man behind her speak, "Ms. Devereux, my offer this morning wasn't a joke."

Even though he had thought he didn't lack for women and didn't want Violet, upon reflection, it seemed she was the only one who could stir his desires.
