Chapter 369 I Have No Improper Desires

A few minutes later, they had finished ordering their food.

Violet and Ethan closed their menus and waited for the dishes to arrive.

During this time, things got a bit awkward. Violet wasn't keen on chatting much, but Ethan seemed particularly interested in her and wanted to ask her everything.

To make it clear that she was a married woman, Violet repeatedly said, "Mr. Lawson, if there's a chance, I can introduce you to my husband."

"Really?" Ethan didn't seem interested in her husband.

He was interested in her.

"Yes, my husband is quite impressive. Maybe you two could even become business partners," Violet said, holding her water glass and deliberately mentioning her husband repeatedly, hoping Ethan would get the hint and not pursue her.

But Ethan felt a sense of familiarity and warmth towards her, regardless of her marital status.

He wanted to get to know her, and he would.

That was his nature.

"Ms. Patton, I just returned to the country and I'm not very familiar with everything here. Would I be honored if you could be my tour guide?" Ethan asked, his hands casually crossed on the table.

His eyes still held that deep, ulterior motive.

"Me? I don't have the time. How about I arrange someone for you?" Violet quickly responded, taking a sharp breath.

"I have a bit of a resistance to interacting with strangers. Since I feel a sense of familiarity with you, Ms. Patton, I'd like to ask you to be my guide. Of course, I know you have a husband, and I have no inappropriate intentions. I just want you to be my guide," Ethan said slowly.

He showed no sign of being flustered by her refusal.

Indeed, he was just like Brady, a man who navigated the business world with charm and confidence.

How could he get things done without that charisma and boldness?

"Ms. Patton, you wouldn't be unwilling to help, would you? I won't be in the country for long, just a few days before I head back. I might not have the chance to return. Consider it a favor for the help I gave you," he said.

Violet really couldn't refuse. After all, he had helped her find Henry.

If she hadn't found Henry, she wouldn't know what to do.

After a few seconds of hesitation, Violet reluctantly nodded, "Alright, Mr. Lawson."

"Thank you for agreeing. Shall we eat?" Ethan smiled slightly as the waiter brought their dishes.

They began to eat in silence.

But shortly after they started, Ethan received a call from his assistant. James had left the hotel, and they didn't know where he was going.

Ethan told his assistant, "Keep an eye on him. I'll be there soon."

He hung up and apologized to Violet, "Ms. Patton, we have an agreement. I'll contact you tomorrow. I have something urgent to attend to now, so I can't finish the meal with you."

"No problem, no problem. Go ahead," Violet said, relieved that he was leaving.

Otherwise, she wouldn't know what to talk about with him.

"Alright, see you tomorrow." Ethan extended his hand for a handshake.

Violet hesitated but then politely shook his hand briefly before quickly pulling away.

Ethan didn't linger. He took his phone and the gift bag she had given him and left.

As soon as he was gone, Violet felt a huge sense of relief.

Why did repaying a favor feel so suffocating?

It was so strange.

And Ethan was a strange man. She had told him she was married, yet he still wanted her to be his guide.

Violet thought about it for a moment but decided not to dwell on it. Ethan would be gone in a few days, and she would just play the role of a guide for now. She sat back down and continued eating.

But she had only taken a couple of bites when Brady found her.
