Chapter 605 Prove It With Her Action

Violet decided not to dwell on it, letting the online insults simmer.

But Brady wasn't about to let those headlines stick around. By that evening, the Hall Group's PR team had scrubbed all the negative news clean.

It was clear who had the nerve to smear the Hall Group's reputation.

Matilda found out too, and she was so upset that she fell ill and had to lie down. When Michael heard, he rushed back to check on her.

Brady stayed in the hospital room, waiting for Ava to wake up.

When Michael arrived, Matilda was half-lying on the bed, her eyes filled with sorrow and frustration, her mouth opening and closing as she whimpered.

How did the Hall family end up in such a mess?

Matilda felt she had let Ulysses down.

If Bram were still alive, he would have handled these issues well, but she couldn't.

She didn't have a strong enough temperament and had always indulged Ava.

Now, it had come to this, with turmoil in the family.

Matilda couldn't take it anymore.

When Michael returned, she cried in front of her son. Seeing her cry, Michael couldn't bear it and immediately knelt by her bed to apologize, "Mom, please don't cry. If you cry, I'll feel even more guilty."

"Michael, what does she want with this latest stunt? Does she want to force us all to give in to her?" Matilda didn't need to ask to know what Ava was trying to achieve by hurting herself.

Ava just wanted to force them to compromise and drive Violet away.

But was that realistic?

Brady liked Violet so much, and Violet was pregnant, with two kids by her side.

How could they possibly drive Violet away?

"Mom, I'll take her back to America as soon as she wakes up," Michael quickly promised Matilda.

But Matilda didn't want that promise anymore. "Michael, be honest with yourself. Have I treated your wife poorly? For so many years, I've always given in to her. Sometimes, her words carry more weight in the Hall family than mine. I've been accommodating her like this, and she still wants to cause trouble?"

"Look at the mess she's made! She's spread all our family's dirty laundry out there. Does she think she can win? Doesn't she realize that people outside are watching the Hall family's drama? How embarrassing!"

"Don't talk about taking her away or anything. Even if you took her to outer space, it wouldn't change her deep-seated dislike for Violet."

"Mom, what do you want me to do?" Michael didn't dare to defy Matilda.

"Divorce her," Matilda sighed deeply. "I'm tired and old. I don't want to deal with these mother-in-law and daughter-in-law issues. I just want to hold my great-grandchildren and enjoy family happiness."

"I don't care about scheming, reputation, or status. I just want to live a happy life. Is that too much to ask?"

Michael fell silent. He had feelings for Ava, but with everything that had happened, he couldn't keep indulging her.

"I know you have feelings for her, but if you don't set some boundaries on her behavior, she'll never appreciate your marriage or our family," Matilda continued. "I think you should consider divorce. If she genuinely wants to change, she can prove it through her actions, and we'll welcome her back. But if she refuses to change, we shouldn't keep waiting around for her."

"Mom, I understand. I'll do as you say. I'll go draft the divorce papers now," Michael said, understanding Matilda's intentions.

"Good, I hope there won't be any more trouble. I'm too old to handle your drama."

"Mom, there won't be. Don't worry. Are you feeling uncomfortable anywhere?" Michael asked, tucking Matilda in.

"No, I'm just upset. When I'm upset, I feel unwell," Matilda waved him off. "You go ahead. I need to rest for a while."

Michael nodded. After helping Matilda settle down, he went to the study on the second floor and called the lawyer, asking him to draft the divorce papers.
