Chapter 161 Protection

After Brady's icy declaration, Oliver, clutching his injured spot, gasped in shock and pain, stammering, "Mr. Hall... what the...?"

Had Violet actually won over Brady Hall?

But he remembered – Brady had treated her like she was nothing, with complete disdain.

What was going on now?

Oliver couldn't understand it. He had always assumed a man like Brady would despise a woman with Violet's reputation. How could this be?

Was it possible that Violet had gone to Brady again?

Did Brady find her beauty irresistible and decided to have a fling?

After all, Violet was known for her beauty in their circles.

Oliver silently speculated, and after much thought, he figured that only one thing could bring someone of Brady Hall’s caliber out to defend Violet, especially given her presence at this upscale golf club after her fall from grace.

It seemed that, even after more than a year, Brady Hall couldn't resist Violet Devereux's allure.

He took the bait.

Oliver's disdain and hatred towards Violet only grew in that moment. Just a while ago, she was putting on a show of virtue and integrity.

"Let's see how you play it now," he sneered, his tone dripping with sarcasm.

Still out there hustling, oh... and who did you sell yourself to this time? Brady Hall, that big shot from New York?

What a poser.

While Oliver writhed on the ground, a young woman who looked to be about 19 and pretty as a college cheerleader, stepped out of a compact car. She saw Oliver take a fall.

She hurried over with deep concern, offering to help him up: "Oliver, what happened to you?"

"Get away from me." Oliver was all about keeping up appearances and certainly didn't want one of his flings to see him in such a sorry state, so he pushed her away despite the pain.

Stumbling to his feet, Oliver faced Brady Hall, who coldly spoke up: "Oliver, what was it you were saying about me? You got a problem with me?" While he spoke, Brady protectively pulled Violet Devereux behind him, using his tall frame as a shield.

Violet was now the woman he had his eyes on.

His possessive nature drove him to instinctively block out any man linked to Violet, including this one she'd been previously set up with.

Brady's overt protectiveness of Violet confirmed Oliver's suspicions.

Violet, that unscrupulous woman, had indeed latched onto Brady.

Oliver sneered internally at the thought of her virtue—all an act, it seemed. She'd played innocent during their set-up, and now look where she was.

Pretending to be above it all.

Inwardly cursing Violet with venomous contempt and disgust, Oliver disguised his feelings. With a feigned smile, he told Brady, "Mr. Hall, it's all a misunderstanding."

Knowing he was no match for Brady, he avoided a fight.

But the thought of Violet's betrayal – especially public humiliation by her new lover – was not something he could easily let slide.

He swore that the moment Brady dumped her, he'd have her dragged back to his villa for a harsh lesson, then tossed her aside, ruined.

It was the only way to wash off the stain of his cuckoldry.

"If it's a misunderstanding, hit the road and don't you dare show your face at this country club again." Brady's voice was laced with an icy authority that made him appear even more commanding.
Violet Devereux wasn't the only one to sense the dominating aura; even the college girl Oliver had brought with him couldn't help but be drawn to him.

Her eyes softened, gazing at Brady Hall with budding affection.

The guy was just so strikingly handsome and imperious.

How could he even compare to Oliver, with his sleaziness and spinelessness?

Right, had he been that brash, pushing her like that?

The college student couldn't help but compare the two men in her mind, finding herself more and more taken with Brady's commanding presence, her heart nearly leaping out to him.

She was moments away from asking for his number, right then and there.

However, as she daydreamed about Brady, Oliver caught her staring at the man and felt a surge of jealousy. He grabbed her wrist with a forceful grip and dragged her away.
