Chapter 627 The Truth

Gerry sat back down, a storm of anger, frustration, and anxiety swirling inside him. His handcuffed hands clenched and unclenched repeatedly.

After nearly five minutes of internal struggle, he finally spoke, "Alright, what do you want to know? Ask away. But you have to promise not to go after my mom, my wife, and Lilian anymore."

"I promise," Brady said.

Gerry sighed, a mix of resignation and anger in his voice as he turned to Violet, "You're right, you're not my kid."

So it was true. Just as she had suspected.

No wonder she never felt any fatherly love, and her mom never got any affection from him.

There was a reason for everything.

Thinking about all those years her mom was ignored and emotionally abused, Violet couldn't help but grit her teeth and say, "If you knew I wasn't your kid, why did you marry my mom?"

Why did he marry her? Because his father wanted a grandchild.

As long as his father had a grandchild, he would hand over everything from the Devereux family to him. Otherwise, he would get nothing.

He had no choice but to marry Evelyn.

Of course, he did like her at the time.

Evelyn was a top student at Elysiuma Law School, beautiful and gentle, with a clean background, except for her average family status.

She was flawless.

The only thing that made him angry was that she looked down on him, a playboy.

She fell for some young man from Eldoria.

But could that man really be interested in her?

With his powerful background and family connections to the Eldoria royal family, would he really look at a commoner like her?

But who knew they would actually get together.

It was ridiculous. She knew she would be played and abandoned by that man, yet she still went for it.

In the end, that man went back to Eldoria without taking her with him.

"It was an agreement between your mom and me," Gerry said, taking a deep breath. "She gave birth to another man's child to make Bram happy, and I got the family business."

So their marriage was just an agreement?

Violet was shocked.

But more than that, she was furious. She bit her lip and said, "If it was an agreement, why didn't you divorce her sooner? Why did you drag her along?"

He knew it was an agreement, yet he cheated and tormented Evelyn.

Shouldn't he have ended it after using her?

At least if he let her go, she wouldn't have suffered so much.

Violet couldn't understand why he would torment her mom like that.

Her mom didn't do anything wrong. Everyone knew the truth before they got married, so there was no deception. She was angry. Why did he keep Evelyn around to torment her?

"I was jealous, okay? And yeah, I was angry. I put everything into pursuing her, and then this guy swoops in with some smooth talk and she's gone? Wouldn't that piss you off too?" Gerry sneered.

"I don't want to hear it anymore. You're just selfish," Violet covered her ears, not wanting to listen.

This wasn't a reason to torment someone. It was just venting personal grievances.

"Now that you know what you wanted to know, can you leave?" Gerry didn't want to see her anymore.

Violet lowered her hands, wanting to ask one last question, "Do you know who that man was?"

Gerry shook his head, "How would I know? That man was very mysterious. If you want to know, ask your mom's high school friend." He had no interest in learning about a rival.

With that, he stood up, ready to leave.

But before he walked away, he suddenly turned back to look at Violet, wanting to tell her he didn't regret marrying her mom.

It would've been ironic, though.

After all the ways he had tormented Evelyn.

So he decided to say nothing. He knew that from today on, Violet would no longer be his daughter.

They would have no relationship whatsoever from now on.
