Chapter 150 I'll Let You Go Today, You Set the Time for Dinner
“Mr. Hall, may I decline?” Violet Devereux felt no desire to have dinner with him.
“Consider it a thank you. Don't you realize what could have happened today without me?” Brady's silhouette stood outlined against the backlight, his posture impeccable, his presence unexpectedly mesmerizing.
She blinked away the daze, rationalizing that he had, indeed, saved her, and promptly replied, “I can't tonight, Mr. Hall. How about another day?”
“What, picking dates for a simple dinner?” Brady suspected her of making excuses to avoid dining with him. As he tapped the ash from his cigarette, his long strides closed the distance between them.
The two bodyguards, noting their approach, tactfully retreated several meters away to stand guard.
Now, it was just the two of them.
He stopped just inches from her and asked pointedly, “So, aren't you aware of Mr. White's reputation? You're really willing to keep his company?”
“Do you want to be just another notch on his belt? Because I assure you, I'm much more gentle than he is,” said Brady as he gently lifted her chin with his index finger, his voice clear and direct.
Although domineering, he wasn't perverse.
He had no such twisted inclinations.
But his imposing demeanor did little to impress Violet Devereux – where was the kindness in that?
Anyway, she wouldn't take to him.
She had no desire to be entangled with any of them. "I just don't want him on my case."
"So you showed up to this meet-up?" Brady Hall got it. From his perspective, the woman he was eyeing wasn't as loose as the rumors suggested.
Money would do the trick.
"Uh-huh." Violet Devereux nodded, "Mr. Hall, I've really got something else today. Let's do dinner another time."
Avoiding a meal with him seemed inescapable.
"What could possibly be so important today?" Brady Hall's fingers brushed her soft chin, playing with her as if she was his to toy with.
"A family thing." Violet Devereux recoiled from his touch, turning away, "May I go now?"
She was close to losing it.
How was she supposed to shake off Brady Hall?
Back when she was still part of the Devereux household, a single encounter with Brady Hall left her head over heels, secretly pining for him.
Now he was eagerly pursuing her, but she was looking for ways to escape.
How the tables had turned.
But his pursuit wasn't out of affection or love.
It was pure lust.
Violet knew it all too well. She was at her wit's end—how on earth could she fend off these men?
Did she really have to resign to get away?
While Violet Devereux was hectically brainstorming ways to avoid Brady Hall, he relaxed his grip, gestured to someone behind them, and his assistant Linda came sprinting over with a sparkling silver gown decked out in diamonds.
"Mr. Hall, Ms. Devereux's gown," Linda said respectfully, passing the dress to Brady Hall.
Brady grunted, holding the gown, "I'll let you off the hook today. You set the date for dinner, and wear this gown when you join me."
With that, he didn't coerce her further, thrust the gown into her arms, and walked away with his assistant and bodyguards.
Violet Devereux stood there stupefied, clutching the gown worth $80,000.
An $80,000 gown just for a dinner.
Only Brady Hall would pull a stunt like that.
After he vanished from sight, she looked down at the luxurious dress in her hands and felt like she was holding a hot potato.
But she had no intention of keeping it.
After dinner, she'd simply return the gown to him.
