The man standing next to her mom in that old photo was actually Ethan's dad?
Violet was stunned. No wonder he wanted to know about the past.
But as far as she knew, there wasn't much to tell.
From what she had learned from Hellen, her mom and the man in the photo didn't have some earth-shattering romance or deep connection.
In the end, her mom married Gerry.
But now, the son of the man in the photo had come all the way from Eldoria to find out about her mom. What was going on here?
Violet didn't know what to say.
"So, I want to know about the past," Ethan repeated.
Violet fell silent. Should she talk to him about it?
Would he tell her something about her mom and that man?
Hellen had said very little, and Gerry was unwilling to talk.
"Evelyn used to work as a translator at that nightclub, which is why that photo exists. But I don't know the details. If you want to find out more, you could visit that nightclub and talk to her old high school friends, because it was run by one of them," Violet said, taking a deep breath.
She really didn't know much more than that.
After getting out of prison, she hadn't planned on looking for her family.
If Ethan hadn't shown up out of the blue, she probably wouldn't have mentioned the nightclub at all.
"Is that all?" Ethan was a bit surprised she knew anything about it.
Was this story really that well-known around here?
"Yes, that's all I know," Violet nodded.
"Would you be willing to come with me to check it out?" Ethan asked, hopeful.
"Me?" Violet hesitated.
"Yeah, you're from around here. You'd be better at making introductions." Of course, Ethan also wanted her company.
It was strange. He felt an inexplicable urge to be close to her.
Even though he knew she was married with a husband and kids, he couldn't help himself.
Violet bit her lip, thought it over, and then nodded. "Okay, I'll go with you."
If fate had brought her face-to-face with the son of the man in the photo, maybe it wasn't just coincidence. Maybe she was meant to dig deeper—to finally discover who her real father was.
So she would go with him.
Ethan was thrilled that she agreed to help. He couldn't help but smile. "Do you know the address of the nightclub?"
"Yes, I'll tell you how to get there." The nightclub had been around for over 20 years.
It had been torn down and renovated once, and now it was an entertainment venue.
She wasn't sure if her mom's old friend still worked there.
If they did, it would be easy to find out more.
Even if they weren't there anymore, they could start by asking around. With that in mind, Violet gave Ethan directions, and they drove through a series of turns into a neighborhood.
When they arrived, they saw the old nightclub from 20 years ago.
Sure enough, it had been transformed into a trendy entertainment spot.
Ethan parked in the lot and, being a gentleman, opened the door for Violet.
Once she got out, they walked in together.
Meanwhile, Brady, who had been following them, pulled up to the entrance of the entertainment venue.
His eyes flared with anger.
This guy had the nerve to bring his wife to a place like this? Was he out of his mind?
And his wife. He never thought Violet would cheat on him. She was actually seeing another man?
