Chapter 776 She Won't Let Violet Go
Charlotte's cheek stung from the slap, and she instinctively covered her face with her hand.
She looked up at Violet and, to everyone's surprise, started laughing. "Mrs. Hall, I underestimated you. I thought you were a fool."
But it turned out Violet's mind was just as sharp, if not sharper, than hers.
"Even if I were a fool, that's no excuse for you to steal my husband." Violet had no patience for her nonsense.
When the bodyguard handed over the surveillance footage, she coldly said, "Ms. Devereux, from today onwards, you're out of the Hall Group!"
"Fine, I'll leave right away." Charlotte had been humiliated in front of so many people today; staying was not an option.
She was eager to leave as soon as possible.
Even if she left the Hall Group, she wouldn't let Violet off the hook.
Charlotte grabbed her shirt and hastily put it on, ready to leave.
Violet blocked her path, her voice icy, "Ms. Devereux, did I say you could leave right now?"
"What do you mean, Mrs. Hall?" Charlotte glared at her, unsure of what she was planning.
"I mean, you're fired, but not immediately. After all, a woman who steals my husband should be punished. How else can we uphold social morals?" Violet said slowly.
Charlotte frowned, looking at her warily.
What was Violet up to?
Had she underestimated Violet all along?
Did she think Violet was easy to bully?
But now that she had been exposed, she couldn't be forceful.
She had to play it softly. "Mrs. Hall, I apologize for this."
Violet didn't care for her insincere apology.
She turned to the bodyguard and said, "Hold Ms. Devereux for now. When we get back to the Hall Group, we'll have a meeting where Ms. Devereux will apologize to me in front of everyone."
As soon as Violet finished speaking, Charlotte's face turned pale. She was furious and humiliated.
A public apology? How could she ever show her face here again?
Violet was ruthless.
Charlotte was seething, but she had no power to fight back. She had to swallow her pride.
"Calliope, I'm going to check on Brady. You handle things here," Violet said, feeling she had said enough, and left the room.
Calliope and the bodyguard stayed behind to watch Charlotte.
Now, only a few people were left in the room.
Charlotte couldn't leave and had to sit stiffly on the sofa, silent.
Calliope glanced at her calmly, then walked over and, with a mocking smile, said, "Charlotte, I used to consider you a good friend. I guess I was too naive."
"I don't have many friends, besides Violet, almost none. When I met you, I thought we could become close friends. But you were using me to get close to Violet," Calliope said, her voice cold and heartbroken.
She had imagined all the wonderful things about being friends with Charlotte.
Shopping together, eating together, sharing little secrets about their boyfriends.
But she was too inexperienced, too trusting.
Charlotte listened, feeling nothing.
She had never cared to be friends with someone as naive as Calliope.
Calliope's sadness didn't affect her. All she wanted now was to leave.
If she had to apologize publicly at the Hall Group, she could forget about her future there.
So she had to save herself.
She lifted her face and grabbed Calliope's hand, saying, "Calliope, if you value our past friendship, can you help me? If you do, I'll be your best friend forever."
Calliope no longer trusted her. She pushed her hand away and coldly said, "You're dreaming. Anyone who hurts Violet is no friend of mine."
"Calliope!" Charlotte was desperate.
"Put tape over her mouth. I don't want to hear her voice," Calliope said, turning to the bodyguard.
The bodyguard understood, pulled out some clear tape from a drawer, and without hesitation, taped Charlotte's mouth shut.
Charlotte, unable to call for help, clenched her fists and glared at Calliope's back.
Even if it destroyed her, she wouldn't let Violet go.
This grudge between her and Violet was now set in stone.
