Chapter 895 Sit Down and Behave
"That's not happening," Arthur said firmly.
He could be gentle and reasonable with anyone, but not with Diana.
Diana had sided with Elio to plot against Bram for a bit of personal gain.
Even Arthur's patience had its limits.
"Arthur, stop bullying me!" Diana's face turned pale with anger at his harsh refusal. Her fingers clenched tightly, and she stared at him with a steely gaze.
"When you sided with Elio to hurt Grandpa, did you think about today?" Arthur's voice was cold.
Diana was left speechless.
He had no idea how badly she had been threatened. If she could, she would rather have never returned to the Fawn family.
Then none of this would have happened.
Diana knew he wouldn't show her any mercy, so she didn't want to say anything more. She couldn't stand being around him any longer.
Without waiting for his permission, she bit her lip, gathered her courage, and ran towards the door.
Arthur saw her defiance and felt a surge of anger.
He tossed his notebook aside, stood up, and strode over to her.
He grabbed her slender wrist and said harshly, "Try stepping out that door."
"I can't stay here with you! I'd rather die!" Diana shouted, not caring anymore.
If it came to it, she would rather he kill her right there.
Though she was terrified of dying, she saw no other way out. She couldn't bear to stay there any longer.
Perhaps for the first time, Diana's genuine disgust for him showed.
Arthur's eyes darkened, and he tightened his grip on her wrist, nearly breaking it.
Diana cried out in pain.
Arthur showed no pity. "I rarely get this angry with a woman, but you chose to side with Elio against Grandpa. I gave you a chance to stand with me, but you didn't take it!"
Diana's eyes welled up with tears, and she choked out, "Some things aren't as simple as you think."
"But your actions showed me you're against us," Arthur said impatiently. "If you don't want to get hurt, sit down and behave."
Diana wanted to argue, but she knew she had chosen Elio's side.
No explanation would change that. She pulled away from him and sat back down on the sofa.
As she sat there, she couldn't hold back her tears and hugged herself, crying.
Arthur stood there, watching her cry. His heart softened unexpectedly. He wanted to say something, but chose to remain silent.
Instead, he walked over, pulled two tissues from the box, and tossed them beside her.
Then he sat across from her, picked up his laptop, and resumed his work.
Time passed quickly, and soon it was evening.
The nights in Vesperia were longer than in Crestoria, so even after 6 PM, the sky was somewhat bright. The red sunset slowly crept up, layering the horizon and dimming the light.
It was finally time for dinner.
Everyone gathered at the outdoor dining area built on one side of the villa.
There was a long wooden table that could seat a dozen people, large sunshades, carved wooden railings, and a clear view of the ocean waves.
This dining environment was much more appetizing than the enclosed dining room in Crestoria.
Everyone chose their seats and sat down.
Bob quickly instructed the kitchen staff to serve the food.
Due to a shortage of staff, Julie volunteered to help.
When she and the island maids brought out the exquisite seafood dishes, Brady noticed her and immediately said, "Julie, come join us. You don't need to serve."
Julie, feeling shy and not wanting to intrude, shook her head and said, "No, it's okay, Brady."
As soon as she said that, Violet looked at her and then at Brady with a puzzled and wary expression.
Brady noticed Violet's look and quickly explained, "This is Julie Walsh, my comrade's sister."
