Chapter 246 He Wants to Spoil Her a Little
A peculiar unease clung to Violet, though she insisted it bore no relation to her. She gnawed at her lip, her thoughts swirling in a tumultuous storm. "Mr. Hall, can you take me home?" she inquired.Upon hearing Violet's words, Leana's speech slurred, "Who are you?" Her gaze was vacant, a side effect of her alcohol consumption. Her tone was sharp, cutting through the air. Violet, startled by Leana's confrontational demeanor, instinctively retreated a step.Brady, perceptive of the mounting tension, shielded Violet behind him. His expression hardened. His relationship with Leana mirrored that with Lorraine Plahn, both friendships forged in childhood due to their parents' affiliations. To avoid any potential scandal with Leana, Brady endeavored to prevent any misconceptions."Take her home," Brady directed Leana's assistant, his voice steady and composed. The assistant nodded obediently and supported Leana, suggesting, "Let's go, Leana."
However, Leana refused to leave. Despite her inebriated state, she recalled her purpose for seeking Brady, particularly now that another woman occupied his room. She couldn't possibly abandon her mission. She shrugged off her assistant and pointed an accusing finger at Violet, her voice raised, "Are you aware that Brady is my man? Who are you?"Leana's assistant was equally alarmed, especially as Brady's countenance grew progressively stern. The assistant was aware of the potential complications should Brady's anger be provoked. Wishing to prevent Leana from instigating a conflict with Brady, the assistant hastily ushered Leana towards the elevator.Leana was reluctant to depart. Brady issued a command to the bodyguard, "Take her back to the Morgans' residence." The bodyguard complied and rushed to assist the assistant in guiding Leana towards the elevator. The elevator doors slid open and then shut. The corridor resumed its tranquil state. As Violet prepared to depart, the door unexpectedly swung open. Emily, having heard the commotion outside, peeked out to investigate. Violet instinctively sought refuge behind Brady, fearful that Emily would uncover her entanglement with him. After a brief survey of the area yielded no results, Emily retreated and closed the door.Violet exhaled a sigh of relief and readied herself to leave. Brady, however, obstructed the exit, his towering figure casting a shadow over the entrance. With his arms folded, he studied Violet, his gaze contemplative. After a moment, he declared, "Return and bathe. Rest early and don't think about leaving. It's late."
Violet asked, "Mr. Hall, do you have to force me like this?"
"Her name is Leana, a model. You must have heard of her. Our friendship dates back to childhood, and it's not what you're imagining," Brady clarified, his tone unusually patient and tinged with a hint of frustration.Violet listened, her emotions indifferent. She held no interest. "So, go bathe. It's late. Rest early," Brady reiterated, extending his hand to take the small bag from her grasp. He intended to discard it on the sofa, but upon inspecting the bag, he noticed a worn corner. He wondered why she was reluctant to change it.
Considering the Devereux family had expelled her due to her affair with him, Brady reasoned her shift to a more frugal lifestyle was understandable.Although he remained oblivious to her motivations a year prior and why she had deceived him, he found himself unconcerned with the past. His interest in her had been piqued, and he desired to indulge her.Brady averted his gaze and tossed the bag onto the sofa. He resolved to have his assistant purchase a new one for her the next day.
