Chapter 670 We Don't Need Your Money
"Juniper, knock it off." Ethan strode over to his sister, pulling her aside to lecture her.
Juniper's face clouded with resentment and hurt, embarrassed at being scolded in front of everyone. "What do you know? All you ever do is criticize me!"
Ethan crossed his arms, his expression unyielding. "I know you bumped into Violet. You think I wouldn't find out?"
Juniper's eyes filled with tears of frustration. "It wasn't on purpose, okay?" She wasn't the type to bully Violet just because she was their dad's illegitimate daughter. She had approached Violet earlier to talk things out, not to cause trouble.
"Whether you meant to or not, you still almost caused a scene. Do you even know she's pregnant? If something had happened to her, do you think you'd just walk away from this?" Ethan's voice rose, his concern turning into anger.
Juniper's eyes widened in shock. Pregnant? How was she supposed to know that?
"Go apologize to her. Now." Ethan's tone left no room for argument. He didn't want this to blow up any further. Violet's husband, Brady, had a lot of clout around here. Even though they were the Lawsons, this was New Future City—Brady's turf.
Juniper hesitated, but the fear of offending the local power and not being able to return to Eldoria made her swallow her pride. She walked over to Violet, her head bowed. "I'm sorry. I didn't mean to bump into you earlier. I was just trying to talk to you and ran too fast. I'm really sorry."
Violet looked at her calmly. "I accept your apology. But as for apologizing to your mother, until the past grievances are cleared up, I won't apologize. My mom, who has passed away, doesn't need to apologize either."
"Don't you think my mom was the biggest victim here? She went through so much without asking for anything. If you think we're after the Lawson family's money, why didn't I come to Eldoria sooner? My mom never told me about this; it only came out because of certain events."
"So, if you think we're greedy, you're wrong. My husband can take care of me; I don't need your family's money."
Violet's words were calm but firm, and Juniper's face turned red with shame. It felt like someone had just exposed all her insecurities.
"Dad and Violet's mom were together before he married our mom. They broke up, and then he came back to Eldoria and married our mom," Ethan explained, trying to make Juniper understand.
"You always think I'm not supporting Mom and that I'm siding with Violet, but I get the situation. Her mom didn't do anything wrong. And about her pregnancy, there might be things we don't know. In the end, it's dad who messed up." Ethan was trying to be fair.
As Violet had said, if Evelyn had wanted to use her pregnancy to threaten the Lawson family, she would have done it a long time ago. It only came out because Violet married Brady and someone with an agenda exposed it.
So, Violet didn't want anything to do with the Lawson family. Meanwhile, Juniper was the one making a fuss.
