Chapter 1021 Ms. Clark, You Wouldn't Want to Be a Lover, Right?
After Lucien's icy remark, Austin knew there was no point in pretending to be civil anymore.
Their relationship was officially shattered.
But Austin wasn't about to back down. He had worked hard to get transferred back to New Future City and had managed to win over Emily's parents. There was no way he was going to give up this chance to climb the social ladder.
"Professor Moreau, I'll be waiting. And just so you know, I'm not giving up on Emily either."
With that, Austin clenched his fist and turned to leave.
Rather than wasting time here confronting Lucien, it was more important to go and comfort Emily.
As Austin walked out of the school building, the dull ache in his mouth from the punch he had taken earlier was a clear reminder that Lucien had humiliated him.
In Crestoria, a man being humiliated like that was intolerable.
Naturally, he wouldn't tolerate it either, but right now, he needed to curry favor with the Hart family. He would swallow this humiliation for now.
Once he had control of the Hart family's assets, he wouldn't need to please Emily anymore.
By then, he could have any beautiful woman he wanted.
He might even be able to keep a favorite actress as a mistress.
Thinking of this, Austin felt a bit more at ease.
He wiped the remaining blood from the corner of his mouth with the back of his hand and strode back to his car.
He was heading to the Hall Mansion to see Emily.
Meanwhile, Violet and Emily chatted about trivial matters while waiting for Aria to arrive as they worked on altering the wedding dress.
After half an hour, Aria finally showed up, wearing a black embroidered dress that was both elegant and subtly sexy.
It was unclear whether she was deliberately provoking Violet, but she was wearing the red rose necklace.
When the maid led her into the dressing room, Violet turned to look at her and immediately noticed the red rose necklace on her slender neck. Her beautiful face darkened slightly.
"Ms. Clark, you're here?" Violet looked at her for a few seconds, then calmly withdrew her gaze and greeted her coolly.
Aria smiled and walked over gracefully. "Mrs. Hall, is there something you needed from me?"
Violet also smiled, picking up the zipper she had just removed and waving it in front of Aria. "Of course, there is. I always thought Ms. Clark's designs were perfect and wouldn't make such a basic mistake."
"I wonder, was it intentional or accidental?"
Aria's delicate brows furrowed slightly when she saw the zipper in Violet's hand. Her red lips pressed together, and for a few seconds, she lost her composure. But she quickly regained her calm, not letting any sign of guilt show.
She lowered her head slightly, her expression unchanged, and apologized calmly, "Mrs. Hall, I'm sorry. We must have overlooked something during the design process. I apologize for the inconvenience."
"Is that so? So it was a misunderstanding? I thought Ms. Clark was trying to embarrass me on purpose?" Violet smiled warmly, but her eyes were cold.
Aria's eyes darkened slightly. Did Violet see through her?
It seemed she wasn't as foolish as Aria had thought.
"It was a misunderstanding," Aria continued.
Violet tossed the zipper at Aria's feet. "It better be. I know my husband is very popular with women, and there are always some trashy women trying to become his mistress, but none of them have succeeded."
"Ms. Clark, you wouldn't want to be a mistress, would you?"
"Of course not," Aria said, her fingers tightening slightly, but she maintained a calm smile. "Mr. Hall is like family to me and has been a benefactor. I would never become a mistress."
"That's good." Violet had said what she needed to say and didn't press further. "Remember to attend today's wedding, Ms. Clark. I want you to see how a man who supposedly doesn't know how to cherish women actually treats them."
Aria was taken aback, her smile stiffening. After a moment, she continued to smile. "Of course."
But only she knew how tightly her fingers were clenched.
This Violet was more formidable than she appeared.
With just a few words, she had almost stripped away all of Aria's defenses.
Aria looked away, her eyes darkening. She would remember this humiliation.
