Chapter 176 Mr. Hall, Please Stop Calling Me

Dinner tonight was quite cozy, and after a satisfying meal, Violet fed her kids a little milk before playtime. Once Hellen had tidied up the kitchen, she offered, "I'll run down to the supermarket to get some fruit."

"I'll go," Violet glanced at the clock, noting it was just 7:30 PM.

Still early.

"You're often worn out from working late, and the kids haven't spent much time with you lately. Why don't you stay and enjoy some more time with them?"

Violet pondered for a moment, "How about I take them shopping with me?"

"I've hardly taken them out properly as they've grown."

"What if we run into him again?" Hellen worried about encountering that man.

"Just downstairs; we shouldn't see him there, right?" As Violet spoke, she coaxed the two little ones up, "Sweetie, mommy's taking you down to get some fruit."

Upon hearing this, Henry and Nicole immediately grinned and clapped their hands joyfully. They truly longed to go out with their mother.

"Let's go," said Violet, taking Nicole's hand.

Hellen, at her wit's end, grabbed Henry and followed her downstairs.

For the family, it was a rare and cozy trip to the supermarket to buy fruit, especially since Henry and Nicole usually went shopping with their nanny and hadn't experienced this with their mother.

The two children were overjoyed.

Nicole kept chattering in her own language around Violet, who couldn't understand her.

The store owner, seeing Violet with the kids for the first time, had originally thought that the pretty young lady didn't have children. But there she was with two beautiful kids.

The locals buying fruit couldn't resist playing with them.

Violet and Hellen just watched, pleased to see them so well-liked, and focused on picking out fruit. After all, the supermarket's patrons were all residents of the building, and they weren't likely to harm the kids.

But Violet, young and inexperienced, was completely unaware of the wickedness of some people's hearts.

During a moment's distraction while choosing fruit, a stranger lured Nicole away.

Henry, who could speak, was left behind as the strangers didn't dare to take him.

Henry, distressed at his sister being taken, tried to follow the lady but couldn't catch up. He turned back, crying out loud for his mom – his cries alerted everyone in the store.

Nicole was gone.

Hearing Henry's sobs, Violet turned and saw him crying, but Nicole was nowhere to be seen.

Violet and Hellen rushed over, "Henry, where's your sister?"

Henry, not skilled in speech, managed to convey in broken words, "A lady took sister away."

"Sissy gone."

As he spoke, he cried even harder.

Violet finally understood and burst into tears herself. Nicole was kidnapped, and the surrounding people, realizing what had happened, urged, "Call the police, quick!"
Someone had said, "I saw a middle-aged woman leaving with a little girl. They headed left. You guys better hurry and chase them down."

Violet Devereux instructed Hellen to hold Henry tight while she went to look for Nicole.

Stepping out of the supermarket and turning left, Violet spotted the woman, who had not gotten far, clutching her daughter.

Without a second thought, Violet mustered all her strength and sprinted after them, shouting at the top of her lungs, "Help! Someone's taking my child! Please, help me catch her—the woman in the brown hoodie up ahead!"

Passersby, appalled by the brazen child abduction under broad daylight, rallied to pursue the kidnapper.

Some even started to call the police.

Violet kept up the chase, and the woman in her sightline took off running, too.

After running for a while, still not catching up but keeping the woman within her view, Violet persisted in the pursuit.

Her cell phone rang amidst the chaos – it was Brady Hall calling.

She ignored the call.

Brady kept calling.

All Violet wanted was to get her daughter back; she disregarded the phone again.

When he called for the third time, she finally answered, her voice quivering with panic and tears, "Nicole's been taken. Mr. Hall, please stop calling me right now."
