Chapter 621 I Do Not Agree With You Marrying Him
Lilian didn't jump into action right away. Instead, she had the middle-aged man blend in with the reporters, waiting for the perfect moment.
At the press conference, Violet and Brady sat side by side on the stage, exchanging loving glances as they answered the reporters' questions.
"Mr. Hall, we heard that Mrs. Hall used to work for the Hall Group. Does that mean you two had an office romance?" a reporter asked.
Violet had expected this question, but Brady had told her he would handle it, so she let him respond.
"Yeah, we did have an office romance. When we went public with our relationship, she resigned voluntarily to avoid breaking company rules," Brady replied smoothly.
"Mr. Hall, can you tell us why you love Mrs. Hall?" another reporter inquired.
"I love everything about her," Brady said with a smile. "My wife is like a missing rib I found one day and brought home to complete me."
Though not overly romantic, his words were sweet enough to surprise all the reporters present.
It seemed that even the coldest CEOs could be charming and doting when they met the right woman.
"Mr. Hall, I have another question," the same reporter continued.
"Go ahead."
"I noticed Mrs. Hall is wearing very loose clothing today. Is she pregnant?" As soon as this question was asked, all the reporters raised their cameras, eager for Brady's response.
Lilian, sitting in the distance, turned pale. If Violet was pregnant, it would complicate things. The Hall family would never abandon Violet's child, and she would continue to enjoy a life of luxury.
"At this time, I can't disclose that information. If we decide to announce a pregnancy, we will let you know. Thank you."
The reporters, unsatisfied with the answer, continued to bombard them with questions. The cameras flashed incessantly, making the scene feel like a celebrity interview.
Just as the excitement peaked, the large screen behind Violet and Brady, which had been blank, suddenly lit up.
A photo appeared, showing a pixelated face of Gerry, but clearly depicting Violet's mother sitting closely with another man. Below the photo, a large caption popped up: [Violet's birth mother, Evelyn Thomas, a 'top hostess' at a certain nightclub, married into the Devereux family while pregnant.]
The moment the caption appeared, the bustling reporters were stunned into silence. They quickly aimed their cameras at the photo and the words on the screen.
Violet turned to see the photo and the caption, her face paling instantly. She had never seen this photo before, nor did she know her mother had worked at a nightclub.
Her mother had been a top student at a law university. Hellen had mentioned that her mother was the pride of their family. Despite their modest background, Evelyn excelled academically and was on track to join the national judiciary after graduation. But she got pregnant in her senior year, dropped out, and married into the Devereux family.
Violet thought her mother had been foolish to sacrifice her own life for marriage. But she had no idea her mother had worked at a nightclub.
As Violet stared at the photo in shock and confusion, a middle-aged man, prompted by Lilian, stood up from the back row and walked to the front of the stage. He addressed the still-stunned Violet, "Violet, I am your father. I do not approve of your marriage to this man!"
