Chapter 749 How Could I Compare to Mr. Hall Back Then

Darian's words, though casual and nonchalant, hit like a bombshell between Violet and Max.

Violet was stunned that he remembered that incident.

Max was floored that this genius designer had once pursued Violet.

No wonder Violet had hinted they might know each other.

With Darian suddenly bringing this up, the atmosphere between the three of them instantly became awkward, a bit of tension starting to spread between Violet and Max.

To break the awkwardness, Violet decided to act natural and spoke first, "Wow, Mr. Voss, you have a great memory."

She then took a seat next to Max.

Seeing this, Max immediately played along with Violet, joking, "Since Mr. Voss knows our Ms. Devereux, we don't have to be so formal in our collaboration."

"But Ms. Devereux rejected me back then," Darian said, casually playing with the intricately crafted knife and fork on the table, smiling serenely.

The smile seemed harmless, but it made Violet feel a bit uncomfortable.

Did he care about her rejection?

Thinking about this, Violet paused for a moment, then said with a bright smile, "Mr. Voss, that was ages ago. We were just kids, and our views on love were pretty immature. I didn't know much about relationships back then."

"I believe someone of Mr. Voss's stature wouldn't be bothered by such a minor incident from the past, right?"

Darian laughed warmly, "Of course not. It's been so many years."

"We're all grown up now."

"Yes," Violet said, feeling relieved.

She had been worried he might still be upset about the rejection, but considering it was a teenage matter, surely no one would hold a grudge over it, right?

Especially someone like Darian, with his current status, wouldn't be petty enough to dwell on it?

"Since it was just a youthful episode, can we discuss our collaboration?" Max seized the moment.

Darian wasn't particularly interested in jumping straight into work.

He leisurely twirled the silver knife and fork in his fingers, smiling, "I remember I bought a bouquet of roses for you, and you pushed them away. Do you remember that, Ms. Devereux?"

Violet was taken aback.

Didn't he say he didn't mind? Why bring this up again?

Was he going to reminisce about his rejection?

This didn't seem right.

What man would want to recall such a humiliating moment, especially in front of others?

A genius designer like him wouldn't fear gossip spreading, would he?

Lose his dignity?

So what was he getting at?

Violet couldn't figure out his intentions.

"Mr. Voss, those are old memories. I don't remember them," Violet replied awkwardly.

"Oh, Ms. Devereux doesn't remember. I see. After all, how could I compare to Mr. Hall back then?" Darian said with a smile.

Max picked up on a different tone.

Could Darian still have feelings for Violet?

But Violet was married and pregnant. Was he still interested?

It didn't fit his status!

Max was also puzzled.

"Mr. Voss, about the past..." Violet started to explain.

Darian raised his hand, signaling her to stop, "Ms. Devereux, no need to explain. I just haven't seen you in years, and seeing you now brought back memories. Don't worry, I don't mean anything by it."

Violet nodded, still feeling a bit uneasy.

"Alright, let's talk business," Darian said, putting down the knife and fork.

Violet and Max both nodded, "Okay."
