Chapter 182 Let Me Introduce You to My Lawyer Cousin

As soon as Mrs. Devereux left, the designers lurking around the office resumed their whispering about Violet.

Violet heard them; it was nothing new – just the usual unpleasant chatter.

She tried not to care.

In a few days, she would be gone.

But Max did care. He had heard the subordinate's whispers earlier and slammed his hand down on his desk, yelling for the first time ever, "Don't you all have work to do? Stop gossiping."

Max's outburst was a first, and it shocked everyone. They all scurried back to their desks with bowed heads to work., finally realizing the gravity of the situation.

It was the first time they truly saw Mr. Green lose his temper.

He was usually so calm.

Even when they messed up, he wouldn't raise his voice, much less erupt in anger like this.

It became clear to everyone that Mr. Green was truly smitten with Violet, and Laura was out of the picture.

But Laura had known for a while that Max cared about Violet. She just hadn't imagined his concern would run deep enough to cause an outburst at the company on her behalf.

Her inner fury mounted, her indignation growing and she dug her fingernails into the palm of her hand.

Violet really should get lost!

"Violet, it's okay. Get back to work," Max said calmly after his outburst, returning to his usual gentle demeanor and turning to Violet.

Violet was somewhat stunned. This was also her first encounter with an enraged Mr. Green, as fierce as men could be in their anger—much like Brady Hall.

Just thinking of Brady Hall made Violet curse him silently; all her current troubles stemmed from him.

Violet smiled at Max and said, "Mr. Green, thank you. My family situation is a bit complicated, and I'm sorry it has affected the company."

"Don't worry, if you ever feel upset, just come to me. I'll help whenever I can," Max replied calmly after his usual gentle demeanor, even though he didn't fully grasp what was going on in her family.

But from what he'd heard, he could tell Mrs. Devereux was seriously lacking in decency!

What kind of grandmother bullies her own granddaughter nowadays?

How deep must that grudge be? Was it really worth it?

Violet Devereux nodded. "Thanks, Mr. Green. I have to head over to the factory now to help Loraine with a wedding dress rush order. May I go?"

"Sure, go ahead," Max gave her the green light.

With his approval, Violet quickly gathered her things and hastened to leave JK.

She felt like she was suffocating here.

She had joined JK full of hope, and now she was just as eager to get away.

But not for long. Once she finished with Lady Hall's overcoat, she'd be free.

She had actually already sent out her resume online a few days ago.

Recently, she got responses from two design firms inviting her for interviews next Monday.

So, really, there was no need for her to stay here any longer.

Violet Devereux strode out of JK, and once in the elevator, she texted her best friend Emily, "Hey Emily, I’m job hunting again."

Emily was at her family's business, and when she saw the message, she replied right away, "What happened? Did they let you go?"

Violet didn't keep secrets from her best friend, "No, I'm planning to resign."

Emily understood. "Come work for me, how about $20,000 a month?"

Violet Devereux chuckled. "My field is design, and there's nothing fitting for me at your place. I'd just be taking your money for nothing."

Emily came back with, "It’s only $20,000 a month; I mean, you could bridge the gap at my company until you find the right design firm."

Don't forget, I am Henry and Nicole's godmother now. I can't have my godkids going hungry. Think about it, okay? Baby formula and diapers are super expensive.

Violet Devereux replied, "Alright, I'll consider it."

Emily laughed. "There you go, that's the spirit. How about we meet up tonight? I'd like to introduce you to my cousin, the lawyer; aren't you trying to reclaim your mom's inheritance?"

Mentioning this perked Violet up as she hadn't had the opportunity to meet with her cousin.

"So it's a date tonight?" She asked.

Emily confirmed. "Yep, it’s a date."
