Chapter 1006

"I'll definitely remember!"

Cherry sat in the middle of the bike, glancing back at the orphanage she'd called home for over two years, feeling a pang of reluctance.

When she grew up, she was determined to give every kid there a real home.

Camilla's car pulled up at the company entrance.

As soon as she walked in, her assistant, Zoey Coleman, rushed over. "Ms. Jenkins, the assistant to the president of the Winston Group is here."

Camilla nodded. Zoey had already given her a heads-up on the phone, which was why she had to leave the orphanage. She wondered if Cherry had been adopted successfully.

Pushing the thought aside, Camilla walked into her office with a calm demeanor. She set down her handbag and headed to the meeting room with a document in hand.

Luke was sipping coffee comfortably. Hearing the click of high heels, he quickly stood up, gave a slight bow, and said respectfully, "Miss Jenkins."

Camilla wasn't surprised by his attitude. After all, yesterday in Ivan's office, Luke had been even more deferential.

But Zoey beside her looked completely stunned.

The Winston Group was a top-tier global conglomerate. Its president, Ivan, was a big deal wherever he went. Luke, Ivan's assistant, handled a lot of the group's decision-making. Even the mayor of Brussville would be polite to Luke.

Yet here was Luke, bowing his head and showing extreme respect to Camilla.

"Ms. Jenkins, I'm here to discuss a collaboration with your company." Luke slid a document across the table. "This is a new AI development project. If it's acceptable, we can move forward with negotiations."

Camilla waved Zoey off and then said casually, "I'm about to become his secretary. With that status, isn't it a bit inappropriate for me to partner with the Winston Group?"

"Miss Jenkins, Mr. Winston personally reviewed several of your company's projects and highly values your skills. That's why he sent me to discuss this collaboration." Luke said, "The final profit split will be 70-30."

Camilla frowned. If the profit was split that way, she wouldn't make much.

"You get seventy percent," Luke added slowly. "If Miss Jenkins still finds it unacceptable, the Winston Group can make further concessions."

Camilla crossed her arms and looked at Luke, taking her time.

The Winston Group initiated the project and should logically have received the largest share of the profit. Yet, they were willing to make such concessions.

She was increasingly convinced that Ivan had an agenda involving her.

Ivan had meticulously planned each step, leading her to Watertown, forcing her to submit. Was she really worth all this trouble?

Camilla's calm gaze made Luke uneasy. Ivan had instructed him to secure this collaboration at any cost, but this task was becoming increasingly difficult.

Camilla was too sharp; she must have sensed something was off.

"Miss Jenkins," Luke coughed and said, "I know you must be puzzled by Mr. Winston's decision. I suggest you agree to the collaboration and then personally ask Mr. Winston. I believe Mr. Winston would be happy to answer any of your questions."
