Chapter 177

At the DeRoss home.
Emily lounged on the couch, eating grapes.
As Flora peeled them for her, she mused, "Did Ivan really ask you to play again? Seems like he really loves the piano. Play your cards right, learn well with Alice, and maybe one day, Ivan will fall for you..."
Emily's lips curled into a smug smile. "That's exactly my plan. It's just Owen; he's so annoying, forbidding me from playing at the Winston estate."
"That little bastard, always making life difficult for you," Flora interjected, her voice cold. "We should have never let him get into the Winstons to live it up."
"It's pointless to talk about that now," Emily's expression darkened, "Once I marry Ivan, then we'll take care of him."
In the middle of their conversation, a servant hurried in. "Madam, Miss, Mr. Winston is here..."
Before the servant could finish, Ivan strode in.
Emily leapt up from the couch, tossing her hair with excitement. "Ivan, what brings you here? A little heads-up would’ve been nice, I'm completely unprepared..."
Ivan's grip was cold as he seized her wrist and pulled her along.
"Ivan, what are you doing? Where are you taking me? I haven't even changed my shoes..."
Despite the pain in her wrist, Emily was ecstatic. This enigmatic man, who never sought her out or showed any physical affection, was now leading her somewhere with purpose.
Today, she had just played the piano for him, and now, barely two hours later, he had shown up at the DeRoss family estate, determined to see her.

Without uttering a single word, he ushered her into his car.

She couldn’t get enough of his imperious silence.

Secretly, she longed for him to be more untamed and more brusque — she fancied being pinned to the back seat of the car as he ripped her dress...

Emily's thoughts were drifting away when she suddenly realized that they had left the DeRoss family’s villa area.

As she adoringly gazed at Ivan's profile, she noticed a cold, stormy look in his eyes, as if something serious would happen the next second.

An ominous feeling welled up within her. "Ivan, what's happened?" she asked cautiously.

Clutching the steering wheel, Ivan's lips tightened and he replied, "Owen was in a car accident."

Emily's eyes widened in shock.

Just moments ago, she was plotting how to cunningly deal with Owen once she became Mrs. Winston.

And now, she was hearing about the accident of this imp.

For some reason, a twinge of guilt-free pleasure emerged in her mind.

But quickly, she remembered that she was supposedly Owen's "biological mother," and her eyes suddenly filled with tears. "Ivan, you're joking, right? Hadn’t you grounded Owen? How could he get into an accident..."

"He sneaked out and got hit by a sports car. He's lost a lot of blood." Ivan's voice was heavy as he continued slowly, "The blood banks in Cuenca have exhausted their supply of Rh-negative blood, so I had to turn to you."

Emily clenched her hands, "Me? What can I do?"

"The doctor said that Rh-negative blood often comes from the mother. They want to test if you and Owen have the same blood type."

Ivan forcefully steered the car, overtaking three others with a swift maneuver, and minutes later, they stopped in front of a small hospital.

Emily's eyes widened in panic.

A blood test?

Wouldn't that easily reveal that her DNA didn't match Owen's?

If it came out that she wasn't Owen's biological mother, all her dreams would crumble.

"Ivan, I'm not Rh-negative!" Emily blurted out decisively, "Instead of wasting time on me, you should be reaching out to the other Rh-negative people in Cuenca..."

"How will we know if we don't try?"

Ivan parked the car and, grabbing Emily's hand, led her swiftly toward the hospital.
