Chapter 438
Owen's eyes darted around. "You go to Keith's room, Angela. I have something to take care of."
He smirked secretly twice and turned to the villa courtyard.
...
Ivan finally found the hangover cure.
He knocked on the door of the guest room with the medicine in his hand several times, but there was no sound from inside the room.
He turned the doorknob and pushed the door open.
And then, his breath stopped.
Haley had taken off her coat and was lying on the bed. She was wearing a shirt with the sleeves rolled up, revealing her arms.
She had been drinking, the smell of alcohol slowly wafted out, her cheeks flushed like a splendid sunset.
That red color spread from her cheeks to her neck, a pink glow shimmering on her collarbone.
The blanket covered her chest perfectly, rising and falling with her breathing.
A burning heat rose in Ivan's lower abdomen.
That impulse was coming back again!
He quickly looked away, not wanting to look at that tempting scene...
He coughed into his hand to clear his throat, but he still couldn't wake the woman lying in bed—"Haley, wake up," Ivan approached her and called out softly.
Haley remained still with her eyes closed, breathing shallowly, sleeping deeply.
Her skin was very pale, radiating a tempting glow under the dim night light. Her lips were full, and there was a hint of alcohol on her breath.
Ivan leaned down guiltily and reached out his hand as if he was possessed.
His thumb was just a few centimeters away from touching the woman's lips, but he struggled to move it away. He lifted his hand to help Haley brush away the strands of hair on her forehead.
He might have moved too suddenly, as the woman's long feather-like eyelashes fluttered and then slowly opened.
When Haley saw the face in front of her, she abruptly woke up, "I, you...why are you in my room?"
As she finished asking that, she immediately remembered that she was at the Winston family’s place. "Sorry, I drank too much. My mind is a bit hazy."
Ivan took a step back and took the hangover medicine from the bedside table. "Taking this should make you feel better."
Haley nodded.
After swallowing the pill, she did feel much clearer.
"Thank you."
Her voice was hoarse as she thanked him.
"What time is it now?" she asked again.
Ivan glanced at the time. "Eight thirty."
So, she had only slept for less than an hour. Haley pushed aside the covers and sat up. "I'm already sober; I can go back now."
Ivan felt a sense of disappointment filling his heart, but he had no reason to keep her here.
He followed her as they walked out. "I'll walk you back."
But suddenly—
A startled cry came from the yard. It was Alfred's voice.
