Chapter 73 You've Disappointed Me Too Much
Since Todd was old enough to understand, Thomas had been a part of their lives. Sometimes when Mommy was busy, Thomas would come over and take them to school, and they would often go out to play together.
Many of the neighbors around misunderstood Thomas to be their father. He knew that one day they would eventually return to their home country, so he dared not think too much about it.
But a few days ago, Thomas suddenly appeared in their world, and he couldn't help but wonder, if Thomas could marry Mommy, wouldn’t that mean there was an extra person to protect her?
But now, all fantasies have been shattered. Thomas actually got involved with another woman and even made Mommy go to resolve the situation. Todd deeply regretted calling Thomas "dad" that day.
He stepped forward and said lightly, "Mommy, you go busy yourself, I'll take care of Thomas."
Although Haley despised Thomas, she didn’t want her son to do such a thing.
As she twisted the towel, she said, "It's getting late, you should rest soon."
"Mommy, Angela just said she's hungry. Go cook her a bowl of noodles, I'll take care of this." Todd said, expressionless.
Obviously, Angela's needs always took priority. Haley threw down the towel and went to the kitchen. Todd picked up the towel and pressed it firmly against Thomas' face. Thomas had been drunk and already half asleep, but the towel stifled him and woke him up.
"Todd, what are you doing? Do you know you almost suffocated me?"
Todd calmly said, "Thomas, you've been in Cuenca for three days, leave for M country tomorrow." Beneath his calm expression hid emotions that Thomas couldn't understand.
He massaged his groggy head and unhappily said, "Todd, your mom didn't chase me away, why are you doing this?"
"If you stay in Cuenca, you'll only cause trouble for Mommy. Mommy already works and takes care of me and my sister, she's already struggling."
"I was wrong, Todd..." Thomas quickly surrendered. "Tonight was an accident, I promise it won't happen again! Don't worry, Todd, since you called me 'dad,' I will take on the responsibility of being a father and protect you all!"
"I called you 'dad' because I really wanted you to be our dad, but Thomas, you have disappointed me too much." Todd's face still remained calm. "You're not worthy of Mommy, so you're not qualified to be our dad either. Leave tomorrow morning."
Thomas was stunned. Though he often joked about marrying Haley and being the father of the two children, both he and Haley knew that it was all just a joke. He never imagined that Todd would take it seriously.
Todd took it seriously, which meant Angela did too. It meant that the two children truly hoped to become a family with him. But he had ruined it. Thomas' intoxication had completely worn off.
Four years ago, he met the lonely, Haley on the streets of M country. From the first glance, he was captivated, and he fell in love with her. But this woman's heart, it was made of stone, so no matter what he did, he couldn't warm it up.
Haley felt that he had ulterior motives and always ignored him. After he finally got a girlfriend, she reluctantly let him into her circle of life. He constantly tried to be a part of her world in such a clumsy way. In his attempt to numb her, he destroyed any possibility of being with her.
"Todd," Thomas forced a bitter smile, "I really don't deserve your mommy, I know that better than anyone." He never thought he could measure up to her.
