Chapter 154

Haley drove the kids to school. On the way, she answered a call from her assistant, “The representatives from the Winston Group have arrived? Hold them for me, I'll be at the office shortly.” Hanging up, she stepped on the gas.

Todd furrowed his brow. “Mommy, are you partnering with the Winston Group?”
"The Winston Group has this smart car project in the pipeline, it's pretty much a game-changer in the market, and I'm quite intrigued," Haley mentioned casually.

Todd's gaze lowered.

Ever since Ivan came into Mom's life and started working with her, they’ve been in close touch.
Could she fall for this guy, spending so much time with him?
After all, the news touts Ivan as the most eligible bachelor in Cuenca, the one every woman dreams of marrying.

"Todd, what's up?" Haley caught Todd's troubled expression in the rearview mirror and voiced her concern.

It seemed like since yesterday, Todd had been down in the dumps, his mood noticeably off.
"Mom, I'm fine." Todd forced a smile. "It's just that you and the Winstons... it seems you're getting too close."

Haley glanced at him. She knew her son; she understood what was on his mind.
She parked in front of the preschool and turned to him gently, "Todd, I'm not sure why you're so averse to Mr. Winston. He's actually a decent guy. What's more important is that Angela likes him, and he even gets her to speak up. Being around him seems to help with her condition, doesn't it?"

Todd nodded. "Mom, I understand."

There were secrets best kept to oneself; there was no need to burden Mom with them.
She had worked hard for so many years; now it was time for her to enjoy her own life.

Todd got out of the car, holding Angela's hand, waved back at Haley, and together, the siblings walked into the preschool.
Only then did Haley head off to the office.

These past few days, Justin had recruited a few programmers for her, and the studio finally started resembling a workplace.
As she arrived, the staff greeted her in unison, "Haley."

She nodded back at them, clutching her files as she walked into the meeting room.
The representative from the Winston Group was Nicholas, the project lead for the A-F initiative, a seasoned veteran with over a decade in the field.
In essence, Nicholas had been part of the industry when the concept of smart products first hit the market, a testament to the maturation of the tech world.

The A-F initiative had been proposed by the Winston Group two years ago but was shelved due to the lack of a suitable chip designer.
This revival had Nicholas initially thinking Ivan must have partnered with a major chip design firm, only to find it was a newly established studio.

Sitting in that meeting room, Nicholas's feelings became rather complicated.
He couldn't shake the feeling that Mrs. Winston had been set up, yet she didn’t seem like someone who could be easily fooled.

So, there he was, patiently combing through the documents.

A few careful glances suggested things added up...

"Nicholas, I'm Haley, the General Manager of Star Technology. Pleasure to meet you."

Haley walked in, a warm smile on her face as she extended her hand to Nicholas.

Nicholas looked at Haley coolly, his expression unreadable.

She was likely in her early twenties, strikingly beautiful—hardly fitting the image of a coding guru...
