Chapter 1027
Ivan tugged at the corner of his mouth.
The children of the Winston family have always been highly intelligent. Keith was like that, and so was Todd. He really couldn't understand how Owen could be so stupid.
He sneered. "Are you sure your gift made it to your mommy's hands?"
Owen then stood up angrily. "Did Bryan pocket the gift I bought for mommy?"
Ivan remained silent. This stupid kid Owen was beyond saving.
"Daddy, is mommy really coming?" Angela asked cautiously, her eyes filled with hope.
Ivan nodded. "To avoid triggering your mommy's memories of the past, you should all call her Miss Jenkins. Don't say too much in case of arousing her suspicion."
"This is where Mommy used to live. Coming to a familiar environment might make her recall the past, right?" Todd said slowly, "Since then we shouldn't bring her home."
Ivan shook his head. "We are people she used to know. To make it natural for you to appear in front of her, she has to come home. If a house alone could make her remember the past, then there would be no need for the five of us to get close to her."
"I understand," Keith said, "If we want Mommy to come back, she has to accept all of this. But for now, we can't call her Mommy; everything has to come gradually."
"No matter what, Mommy is coming home!" Owen said, dancing with joy. "I want to prepare lots of gifts for Mommy!"
"Restrain yourself," Todd said calmly, "If you make Mommy suspicious, she might not come back in the future."
"Alright."
Owen's face fell. For the past four years, every time he saw a beautiful dress, he would buy it for his Mommy. His closet was full of the most beautiful dresses.
When his Mommy officially returned to the Winston family, he would give her all the dresses in his closet!
The night gradually deepened. After taking a bath, Camilla sat on her bed, typing on her laptop.
She had two projects in hand, with many details that needed her personal attention and revision.
Her phone suddenly vibrated. She found it was an unfamiliar number from Watertown.
She frowned and answered the call.
"It's me."
The brief words made Camilla freeze. Why was Ivan calling her so late at night?
Camilla pressed down on her slightly erratic heartbeat and calmly said, "Mr. Winston, is that you?"
"I'm downstairs."
Ivan's words almost made Camilla jump out of bed. She took a deep breath, "Mr. Winston, are you joking?"
"Why don't you walk to the balcony and take a look? Then you'll know if I'm joking."
Camilla got out of bed, and quietly walked to the balcony. She pulled the curtain open a crack.
This was the third floor, just enough to see a tall camphor tree downstairs. Ivan, dressed in casual clothes, stood under the tree. The dim streetlight cast a soft glow on his shoulders, softening his hard features.
There was a moon and stars in the sky. Under the tree, there was him.
Camilla's heart pounded uncontrollably. No matter how much she tried to suppress it, she couldn't stop her heart from racing.
Ivan's words from earlier in the day still echoed in her ears.
"Miss Jenkins, I'm pursuing you. Don't you understand? Miss Jenkins, I'll just call you Camilla."
Camilla clutched her chest, her ears burning. Even without looking in the mirror, she knew her ears must be bright red.
