Chapter 456
Hollis narrowed her eyes.
She didn't quite understand what Haley meant by these words.
Just then, Haley raised her voice. "Please have the staff flip to page sixteen of Mrs. Lumi's design book, a formula that none of you have seen before. Also, on page twenty-eight, this brand new construction module, which I'm sure is unfamiliar to all of you. And the design drawings on pages thirty-four and thirty-five, which also adopt the new construction mode, are truly refreshing."
Everyone nodded in agreement.
Haley sighed softly, and a hint of ridicule crossed her face as she heard Hollis' secretary speak coldly, "This is a brand new construction formula developed by our technology department at the Lumi Group under the leadership of Mr. Lumi."
"Is that so?" Haley responded, a teasing tone in her voice.
For some reason, Hollis felt her heart skip a beat as she saw Haley's gaze.
Haley responded coldly, "Haley, just say what you have to say. Don't talk nonsense here."
"Six months ago, my mentor at Lindell Academy was working on this topic. He showed me his paper before it was published, and it included this formula and the same construction module," Haley smiled. "My mentor's paper was published in a niche technical journal abroad, which probably not many people in China have seen. But that doesn't mean the paper doesn't exist. It was published six months ago, while Mrs. Lumi's project started only three months ago. However, your formula and module overlap by more than eighty percent. Mrs. Lumi, how do you explain this to everyone?"
Hollis' face turned pale and then red. She gritted her teeth and said, "This is just nonsense."
As soon as she finished speaking, everyone in the room started searching on their phones. By inputting the formula and module from the proposal, they quickly found an English paper published.
"Oh my god, what Haley said is actually true!"
"This paper was published six months ago, and it is the same as Mrs. Lumi's proposal!"
"Oh my god, so Mrs. Lumi copied someone else's work and even accused Haley of copying hers?"
Everyone in the banquet hall directed questioning gazes at Hollis.
Hollis had never been scrutinized with such eyes before. She bit her lip and suppressed her anger.
She took a deep breath and said, "This is a teaching paper by Professor Alfonso Romero from Lindell Academy. I did take reference from it, but it is not considered plagiarism because before referring to this paper, I had already purchased the commercial copyright from Professor Alfonso."
She found her perfect excuse, and the probing gazes in the banquet hall finally faded away.
With a determined face, she said, "I apologize for the abruptness today, Haley. Let me invite you for a meal another time to make amends. Let's go."
She turned and walked toward the exit, and the seven or eight people with her followed suit.
As soon as Hollis stepped outside, she made a phone call, "Immediately contact Professor Alfonso Romero from Lindell Academy and buy the commercial copyright for that paper he published six months ago—no matter how much it costs!"
Just as she hung up the phone, another call came in. When she saw the caller ID, Hollis' face darkened.
