Chapter 1029
The cool night breeze gently blew.
Camilla felt Ivan's gaze grow deeper, so she wrapped her clothes tighter around herself.
"I'll head up first."
She took two steps back.
Ivan was very reluctant. He couldn't bear to part with her even though they would meet again at noon tomorrow.
He had waited for four years, but he couldn't wait through this night.
"Camilla, wait." Ivan called out to the turning Camilla.
His gaze was so affectionate that Camilla felt uneasy.
She looked down at the ground, stepping on the fallen leaves on the street, making a rustling sound.
In a hoarse voice, she said, "Mr. Winston, what else do you want to say?"
"What kind of food do you like?" Ivan tried to make more conversation. "I'll have the kitchen prepare it in advance."
In fact, he remembered very clearly about her favorite food.
Maybe it was the beautiful night, or maybe it was Ivan's gentle voice, but Camilla stayed.
She thought for a moment and said, "I like simple dishes, nothing too elaborate."
The topic should have ended.
But Ivan was still reluctant. He spoke again, "What do you like to drink, red wine, brandy, or coffee?"
"Is water okay?" Camilla smiled. "I like to drink coffee during work and have some red wine at parties. Usually, I prefer water."
"Alright, I'll have them prepare it."
Ivan quietly watched her. This face, which had appeared in his dreams thousands of times, he could never get enough of.
How could Camilla not feel his intense face?
She lowered her head, her voice extremely hoarse. "It's getting late, I'll head up first. Mr. Winston, you should go back early."
"I'll watch you go up."
Ivan's voice was even softer than the moonlight.
Camilla walked step by step into the apartment.
Roses bloomed on the courtyard wall, emitting a faint fragrance in the night breeze. The faint fragrance floated, and the air was quiet.
Camilla felt a pair of burning eyes on her back.
She walked very slowly, as if walking down a three-hundred-foot-long corridor. Finally, she rounded the corridor and Ivan's gaze finally disappeared.
Camilla finally relaxed.
She had never been this nervous even when hundreds of eyes were on her. Today was one of the most nerve-wracking moments in her few remaining memories.
Camilla patted her cheeks. After the heat dissipated a bit, she calmly walked upstairs.
On the third floor, Micah and Nicole were still asleep. Camilla breathed a sigh of relief, tiptoed back to her room, and walked back to the balcony.
Ivan was still downstairs. Rose petals were blown by the wind, falling on his shoulders along with the moonlight.
He seemed to discover her, raised his arm and waved, then bent down and got into the car.
That night, Camilla didn't sleep well. In her dreams, Ivan's tall and slender figure kept appearing.
Ivan approached her step by step from the thick fog, then suddenly grabbed her wrist and pinned her to the headboard.
"Haley, you can't escape."
