Chapter 925
Haley said coolly, "I just taught you a little lesson for dissing my mom."
"You could've just insulted her back. Why'd you have to get physical?" Hollis snapped.
"Because I respect elders," Haley shot back, pulling out a bank card from her purse. "This has two million bucks on it, for medical bills and emotional damages. Is that enough?"
"Not enough, " Ava screamed, "I want you to feel the same pain. I'll pay you ten million for medical expenses!"
"If you don't want it, forget it." Haley put the card away. "Ivan, let's head home with the kids."
Ivan nodded calmly. "Ms. Evans, you insulted my wife's mother. I won't let this slide. It's on a holiday, so I'll let it go for now. But watch yourself."
His cold eyes swept over Ava and Hollis, a clear warning.
He wrapped his left arm around Haley's waist, held Keith's hand with his right, who held his younger siblings' hands. The family of six walked out of Lumi Villa.
After Haley and her family left, Ava started crying. "Why can she hurt me and still be so arrogant! Mom, Grandpa, are you just going to watch me get bullied? Uncle, your daughter bullied me. Do you have anything to say?"
Cauth looked at her coldly. "Haley's mom is her bottom line, and mine too. You should be glad I didn't hear those words myself. Otherwise, I might not recognize you as family anymore!"
"Even if I insulted her mom, does that mean she can break my fingers?" Ava said through gritted teeth, "I insulted her mom verbally, but she physically hurt me. I can call the cops!"
Hollis looked disappointed. "Cauth, you spoil Haley too much. She has always lacked manners, yet you keep backing her up. If she commits murder in the future, will you still cover for her? Our Lumi Family can't compete with the Winston Group. We have to take this loss, but it doesn't mean we think we're wrong!"
She hugged Ava tightly and said coldly, "Let's go to the hospital!"
After Hollis and Ava left the villa, Bark finally spoke, "Although Ava was wrong, Haley went too far. Cauth, you should take some time to properly teach Haley, so she can learn some sense of propriety."
Family disputes shouldn't escalate to the point of going to the hospital. Bark shook his head and turned back into the living room, leaving Cauth to sigh alone.
The extended luxury car drove smoothly down the street. The four kids sat in the back, while Haley and Ivan sat in the front.
She looked down at her hands, not understanding why she suddenly lashed out at Ava.
In the past, she would have at most slapped her. Breaking Ava's fingers was indeed too much.
"Haley, stop thinking about it," Ivan said softly in her ear, holding her. "This is the consequence of her offending you. It's not your fault."
Haley shook her head. "I'll stop thinking about such unpleasant things."
She turned to look at the four kids in the back. "When we get home, take a bath first. Then we'll decorate the Christmas tree together. Maybe Santa will bring gifts tonight, so we might stay up late."
Her voice was gentle and cheerful, but the four kids didn't react. After a few seconds, Todd said, "Okay, Mommy, I'll help you decorate the Christmas tree."
"In a few days, will we be five years old?" Keith asked, looking up.
"You'll be five after your birthday on May 20th." Haley pinched Angela and Owen's cheeks. "Why do you two look so listless?"
