Chapter 996
Ivan pursed his lips and said softly, "I'm sorry, Ms. Nicole Jenkins. Could you please step out for a bit? Luke will take you to breakfast."
His voice was so much softer now, making Nicole feel like her trip wasn't a waste.
If this powerful Ivan always talked to her this gently, she'd be over the moon.
Just as Nicole was daydreaming, she saw Ivan turn to Camilla and say even more tenderly, "Am I being polite enough?"
Nicole felt like she was losing it.
Last night, she had dug up a ton of info on Ivan, and he had never shown this gentle side anywhere.
His voice was like cotton candy. His eyes seemed to be looking for approval.
Nicole got goosebumps. Why did it feel like she was watching someone else's sweet moment?
"Ms. Nicole Jenkins, this way, please."
Luke gestured.
Nicole, both shocked and scared, left reluctantly with a mix of emotions. The door closed softly behind her.
"Mr. Winston, I agree to be your secretary," Camilla said calmly. "How long is the contract?"
"Three months," Ivan replied flatly. "After that, you're free."
"Alright, let's sign then."
Camilla pulled out the contract she had prepared and quickly signed her name. Ivan nodded and signed at the bottom, his handwriting strong and elegant.
There were two copies of the contract.
"Since it's settled, I'll start on the first of next month," Camilla said with a smile.
It was only the fifteenth, which meant Ivan had to wait half a month before he could spend time with her. Ivan then said, " You should come with me to the company right now."
"Mr. Winston, the start date is in the contract. You just didn't read it carefully."
Camilla raised her chin slightly, a glint of pride in her eyes.
Ivan chuckled. Only his Haley could outsmart him. He had waited four years; a little more time wouldn't hurt.
"Mr. Winston, see you in half a month."
Camilla nodded and turned to leave.
Ivan quickly caught up. "You probably haven't had breakfast yet. Let me take you."
"No need, Mr. Winston. I'm very busy," Camilla said calmly. "Once I'm your secretary, I'll join you for meals."
Without looking back, she walked through the corridor and into the elevator, the doors closing off Ivan's view.
Ivan pinched the bridge of his nose.
Today's Haley was just as hard to approach as she was four and a half years ago.
But it didn't matter; he had plenty of time to take it slow. This time, he wouldn't let Haley disappear from his sight again.
Camilla went downstairs and saw Nicole and Luke having breakfast in the lobby. She walked over, sat down, and ordered breakfast too.
Luke quickly stood up. "Ms. Camilla Jenkins, why aren't you having breakfast with Mr. Winston?"
"Why should I be with him?" Camilla asked with a faint smile.
Luke silently grumbled to himself.
Even though Haley had lost her memory, her sharp demeanor was just like it was four years ago.
To keep himself safe, he decided to ask fewer questions.
