"Ivan, I want to hear the truth. Don't lie to me. I am an adult; I can handle anything."
"I'm sorry, Haley. It's my fault for not protecting our daughter. But don't worry, I have already located her and will find her soon."
Haley pursed her lips. "Okay, you must inform me immediately if there is any news."
She hung up the phone and looked at Martin sitting in the car. "Did you send someone to take away my daughter?"
"Don't speak so harshly. I just invited Angela to come to my place." Martin's face revealed a sinister smile. "If she behaves, then nothing will happen."
Haley clenched her fingers.
The implication behind Martin's words was that if Angela didn't behave, something might happen.
Angela had never had a father since birth. At the age of two, she was diagnosed with autism and had been living in her own world for many years.
Would Angela react the same way if she was threatened and scared?
The thought of this possibility made Haley feel intense pain.
She took a deep breath and said, "You just want me to agree to cooperate with the human biological project, right? Okay, I agree. I can go sign the contract now."
"Unfortunately, my company was ruined by Ivan!" Martin's words were cold and deliberate.
He spoke coldly, "This time your daughter is in trouble not because you didn't agree to cooperate, but because Ivan went after me. So, I had to go after what he cares about the most—his child! If you have any grievances, go find Ivan. It has nothing to do with me!"
Haley gritted her teeth and asked calmly, "What do you want me to do so you will return my daughter to me?"
"Get in the car. I'll take you to find your daughter," Martin said coldly.
Haley tightly squeezed her palm. She knew she couldn't act recklessly, absolutely not!
Ivan was searching for Angela's whereabouts, so she just needed to keep Martin stable.
If she angered this man, he might put Angela in danger with just one command.
She took a deep breath and opened the back door of the car.
Martin turned the steering wheel, started the engine, and drove the car toward the deserted outskirts.
Ivan rushed all the way and finally arrived at his destination.
It was the entrance of an outdoor zoo. As soon as he got out of the car, he saw Angela and a group of children blowing bubbles, while his mother sat on the grass watching Angela.
The scene was warm and peaceful, with no danger at all. "Ivan, why are you here?"
Mrs. Winston saw him and hurried over, looking surprised.
Ivan pursed his lips and said softly, "Weren't you supposed to take Angela to buy jewelry? Why are you at the outdoor zoo?"
"Someone said that the zoo has children's favorite pink llamas today, so I brought Angela to see." Mrs. Winston smiled. "Angela just saw the pink llama and was so happy."
Ivan squinted. "Who brought you here?"
Mrs. Winston suddenly looked a bit awkward, her eyes wandering around, looking guilty.
"It was Martin Winston!"
Ivan sneered, his gaze sharp.
Mrs. Winston hurriedly explained, "Your brother was very happy when he found out you have a daughter. He inquired around and found out about the pink llamas here. He arranged for a driver to pick me and Angela up. Look, we are fine. It shows that your brother really likes Angela. Please don't always judge him based on the past. He has changed for the better."
