Chapter 70 Deceived
"Watch what you say from now on," Mark scolded him.
"Can I be blamed for this?" Louis felt wronged. "The internet said she gave birth to two stillborn babies four years ago, so I thought her children were long gone. But now she's going to pick them up from preschool. Can you explain what's going on?"
Ivan calmly said, "Her two children are alive and well, they didn't die. Don't mention these things again in the future."
Louis was dumbfounded. Then, he quickly swallowed his saliva and said, "So that means she has two children, and you also have two. If you two get together, that's four children! The roof might just get blown off!"
Ivan shot a cold glance at him, "Who said we would get together?"
"Okay, okay, you're just pretending to be tough!" Louis snorted, "Haley is so beautiful, I bet there are many men who want to be stepfathers to her children. If you're too slow, don't come to us complaining in the future."
In Ivan's mind, the scene from the hospital yesterday appeared. There were indeed no shortage of men around her. The only question was whether the man was the biological father of her children or just a stepfather.
Thinking about this, Ivan's mood sank. He stood up and said, lips pursed, "Let's go to ROCK, my treat."
"Wow, Mr. Winston is going to a bar today? That's unexpected," Louis exclaimed in surprise.
Mark quickly grabbed him, saying, "Didn't you notice? Ivan is in a bad mood."
"When have you ever seen him in a good mood? He always has a sour face, like someone owes him millions of dollars. Come on, let's go drink. Today, let's drink Ivan bankrupt!"
...
Haley brought the two children home and went to the kitchen to cook. After the meal was ready, Thomas still hadn't come back.
She frowned and asked, "Todd, where's Thomas?"
"Sorry, Mommy, I forgot to tell you. Thomas said he had to meet an important client in the morning and won't be coming back for dinner tonight." Todd helped set the table. Haley nodded and called Angela to come to the table for dinner.
After dinner, Haley planned to take the two children out for a walk when her phone rang. It was Thomas. She answered the phone but before she could speak, she heard sobbing on the other end.
"Haley, you have to help me this time. I've been deceived..." Thomas's voice sounded distressed. "My wallet was stolen, and all my credit cards are gone. Only you can help me now."
Haley resisted the urge to roll her eyes. "How much did you drink?"
"Not much... just a bottle or two of red wine," Thomas's voice carried a slight drunkenness. "They want five million dollars to release me, otherwise they'll call the police. Haley, you know how ruthless my father can be. If he finds out I'm behind bars because of this, he'll kill me."
The phone was suddenly snatched away, and a gruff voice spoke, "Bring five million dollars to the ROCK bar within half an hour, or we'll call the police." The other person hung up after saying that. Haley's face turned serious.
Todd looked worried and asked, "Mommy, what happened to Thomas?"
"He had a bit too much to drink. I'm going to pick him up. You and your sister stay home and behave, alright?" Todd nodded and obediently sat with Angela on the living room carpet.
Haley grabbed her car keys and quickly drove to the ROCK bar. Cursing Thomas in her head, many times, as she drove.
