Chapter 841
Haley hadn't even been part of the Lumi Family for a week, so she was basically a ghost in the Lumi Group.
No way she could show off her skills in just a month.
This whole election setup was totally unfair to her.
Cauth saw it too and was like, "Dad, a month is way too short. Give it at least six months so Haley can get used to the Lumi Group vibe."
The real deal was that Haley needed to make some friends and connections to stand a chance.
"Uncle Cauth, that's hilarious," Ava said, flipping her hair and going all blunt. "When my mom came back from abroad, she knew zilch about the Lumi Group, but she still had to compete with you, right? If my mom could get it together in a month, Haley can too."
Cauth was left kinda annoyed.
He didn't even care about being the heir back then. He only joined the election to shut Bark up. He acted all serious, but he was just handing the heir spot to Hollis.
But now, Ava was saying Hollis earned it fair and square.
Cauth couldn't help but feel a bit regretful.
Hollis stayed cool, "Dad, even though Ava's last name is Evans, she's still family. She calls you grandpa. Everything should be fair and square."
Bryan chimed in, "Six months is too long. How about three?"
If Ava hadn't tricked him, Haley wouldn't even be in this mess.
A one-month election gave Haley, who was new to the Lumi Family, zero chance.
"Just one month." Haley's voice was calm and steady.
With a chill look, Haley smiled a bit, "If we stretch it to three or six months, someone might whine if they lose and want a do-over. I don't have time for that."
Ava was fuming. She snapped, "Haley, you sure talk big. Hope you don't crash and burn."
Haley and Ava locked eyes, tension thick in the air.
Haley stayed cool, while Ava looked like she was about to explode.
"Given Haley's suggestion, the competition will be one month," Bark said calmly. "The Lumi Group has three big projects, each over a billion dollars. Pick one for your assessment. After a month, we'll judge based on completion and estimated profits."
The project score was fifty percent, a big deal. Whoever nailed the project would snag the heir spot.
Haley had heard Ivan talk about the three big Lumi Group projects. The biggest one was in petrochemicals, with the most investment and highest returns. The project leader was Hollis's pick, so Ava would definitely go for it.
Sure enough, Ava jumped in, "I'll pick first. Haley, you cool with that?"
Haley just smiled, "Go ahead."
Cauth got nervous, "Dad, drawing lots would be fairer."
The petrochemical project was the best. Big investment and sure profit were one thing, but the project was run by the company's biggest shareholder.
Whoever got this project would get the biggest shareholder's backing.
Hollis forced a smile, "Drawing lots is fine too. Let luck decide."
