Chapter 365
Emily was practicing piano in her home.
Her fingers danced swiftly over the black and white keys, but halfway through, she stopped.
No matter how much she practiced, she couldn't capture the essence that Haley could.
Her confidence, which she had built up over time, crumbled in front of Haley.
Frustrated, she supported her head with her hands, wishing she could smash the piano to pieces.
Just then, her phone rang. She hadn't saved any notes for the number, but she had memorized it by heart.
She picked up the phone and pressed the answer button.
"Emily, are you free tonight? Let's meet at the usual spot."
A man's voice came through the phone.
Emily leaned on the couch and playfully responded, "You're such a pain. Can't we meet somewhere else besides a hotel?"
"It's convenient to handle business at the hotel, Emily. I know you like it, so let's not be modest. Tonight, I'll make sure you're comfortable."
Hearing the man's flirtatious words, Emily felt her body go weakexcited.
Jordan was giving her what she couldn't get from Ivan tenfold.
She knew Jordan was only infatuated with her body, but what of it? She enjoyed the pleasure of the flesh, the momentary release.
She was about to agree when, out of the corner of her eye, she spotted a familiar car parked outside the DeRoss family mansion.
"I've got Something to take care of tonight. Let's reschedule for tomorrow."
Emily hung up the phone without waiting for an answer.
She quickly stood up, checked her makeup in the mirror, which still looked flawless, and headed outside to the mansion.
The black car's door was suddenly flung open, and the first thing that caught her eye was a pair of impressively long legs.
Sure enough, it was Ivan.
Emily stealthily tugged down her collar, putting on a bright smile as she approached him. "Ivan, what brings you here? Have you eaten yet? I can ask the chef to make your favorite dishes..."
Before she could finish, she locked eyes with his dark and turbulent stern gaze.
Ivan coldly walked towards the mansion, his voice chilling to the bone, "Everyone out."
The servants in the living room had never seen such a display and ran off scared.
Emily's face went pale with fear.
She had no idea what was happening or why Ivan was there.
She forced a smile. "Ivan, whatever it is, let's talk about it calmly. You're scaring me..."
Ivan suddenly turned his head, his sharp eyes falling on her, "You've been lying to me for four years!"
Emily's heart skipped a beat.
She mustered all her strength to suppress the panic, "Ivan, what are you talking about? When have I ever lied to you? I've never deceived you."
Ivan lifted his hand and coldly grasped her throat.
He had been the CEO of the Winston Group for many years, managing the entire conglomerate so well. He couldn't have done it without certain means.
He was never the saint some thought him to be. Those who crossed him were punished.never got any favors under his reign.
His hand fingers were cold as they gripped Emily's throat. He spoke haltingly, each word pronounced with chilling clarity: "Speak about the kid. How did you pull the wool over everyone's eyes?"
Emily's last bit of composure crumbled at that moment.
She saw the coldness in Ivan's eyes, and it seemed to her that a murderous intent was rising from within him...
Such a man would never tolerate being deceived for four years, nor would he allow someone to play him for a fool.
Yet she had done exactly that for four years.
"Ivan, you've got it all wrong. It's not like that." Emily struggled desperately and shook her head. "Let go. I can't speak. Let go, and I'll tell you, alright?"
Ivan loosened his grip slightly, but he didn't let go entirely, maintaining a tight hold on her lifeline.
