Chapter 854

"We don't gotta say thanks between us. Just chill and rest up. I'll grab the doc."

Ivan gave Haley's hair a gentle touch, then got up and strolled out of the room. He didn't wanna stray too far, so he just hung by the door and flagged down a nurse.

The nurse came in, gave Haley some meds, and reconnected her IV, wrapping it up with extra gauze to keep things in check.

Haley lowered her eyes, trying hard to piece together what just went down.

She was certain she hadn't just roused from sleep, and she was equally certain the IV needle hadn't been yanked out in her dreams.

Had something wild happened again?

Why didn't that voice pop into her head this time?

Could it be that the voice had already dug deep into her brain and become second nature?

"Haley, whatcha thinking about?" Ivan's voice snapped her out of it.

"Nothing," Haley said with a slight smile, looking up. "When can I get outta here?"

"You're super stressed and need some serious rest. You can leave whenever you want," Ivan said, staring at her. "Doc said you need at least a week off. I'll handle all your stuff for the week, cool?"

Haley smiled at him. "It's awesome if you can cover for me, but too many eyes are on me about the Lumi Group's project. I still gotta handle that myself. But since I'm sick, you gotta be extra sweet and pick me up for work every day, deal?"

Adorable Haley made Ivan's heart melt. The fierce and wild Haley from earlier and the sweet and gentle Haley now seemed like two different people. But both were Haley, his love.

Pushing aside his mixed feelings, Ivan hugged her shoulders and said, "Whatever you say goes. I'll even tag along to work with you."

Haley smiled softly and leaned into Ivan's embrace.

Despite feeling crappy, having someone to lean on and a safe place to be felt like pure bliss.

Before the IV drip was done, the four kids showed up.

"Mommy, you okay?" Todd rushed in, worry all over his face. "I heard you passed out at the site."

Owen pushed Ivan aside, climbed onto the bed, and said tearfully, "Mommy, don't go to work anymore. Just rest at home. What if you pass out again and no one's around?"

Keith nodded. "Mommy, you can leave the company stuff to me. I got this."

"I can help too," Todd added.

Owen, not to be outdone, said, "Mommy, if you stay home, I can keep you entertained every day."

Angela tilted her head and said, "Mommy, when you get home, I'll play the piano for you. It'll make you feel better."

Looking at her four growing kids, Haley felt immense joy. By the end of this year, they'd be five years old. The memory of giving birth felt like yesterday. Time sure flies.

With her four kids around, Haley's IV drip finished up quickly. Haley wasn't too bad off; she just needed more rest. Afterward, the family drove back to the Winston family home.

As Ivan got out of the car, he saw a foreigner chilling in the living room, being entertained by Alfred.

He said softly, "Haley, my buddy's here. Let's go meet him."

Haley looked over and saw the guy in the living room. He had dark skin, a tall build, and an eerie vibe to his movements.

She couldn't wrap her head around where Ivan had met someone from Kalonica and why he wanted to introduce him to her.
