Chapter 429
Haley took out her phone and glanced at the caller ID before answering the call.
"Hello Haley, I’m from the Vanguard Corporation's Customer Department. Your bid document has passed our preliminary review. Please come to the Vanguard Corporation at 10 a.m. this morning for a meeting."
Haley checked the time and agreed.
The Vanguard Corporation calling her had to mean that there was progress in the bidding process.
She was determined to win this project, so she had to go.
But what about the four children?
She was thinking about how to get someone to care for the four children when she heard a knock on the door downstairs.
Angela, who had been sitting obediently on the bed, suddenly jumped down and ran downstairs to open the door.
Haley immediately knew who it was.
She went into the room to freshen up and change into a professional outfit before going downstairs.
Ivan was already sitting on the sofa. He looked up at the woman coming down the stairs, his lips slightly curved. "Where are we taking the kids today?"
"I have a favor to ask, Mr. Winston," Haley said dryly after clearing her throat and, "I suddenly have some work to attend to. Could you help take care of the four children?"
"What? Mom, you're going to work?" Owen instantly became unhappy. "I want to go to work with you too."
Haley ruffled his hair. "I have something very important to take care of. I'll be back in the afternoon. Can you all be good at home?"
Owen wanted to say something, but Keith interjected, "Angela is right. You're not a good kid."
"I am, too! I'm the best!" Owen took a step back and waved. "Go to work, Mom. I'll behave myself at home!"
Haley laughed.
She ruffled the heads of the four children and then turned her gaze to Ivan. "I'm counting on you, Mr. Winston," she said.
Ivan didn’t like being called "Mr. Winston," but he had no choice.
He nodded lightly. "I’ll take good care of the children. Focus on your work."
Haley then walked to the doorway, changed into a pair of high heels, and left.
Ivan looked at the four children in the living room, unsure of what to do next.
Although he had watched Keith and Owen grow up, he had never personally taken care of children, since Alfred usually handled all the daily trivial matters...
"Daddy, I'm hungry."
Angela tugged at Ivan's clothes and shook it gently, her voice soft and sweet.
Owen rubbed his stomach. "Daddy, I'm hungry too. I want breakfast."
Ivan glanced at the time. It was a little after 7 in the morning, time for breakfast. He hadn’t eaten yet either.
He looked at his other two sons and said, "What about you guys? What do you want to eat?"
Keith replied indifferently, "Anything is fine. I can eat anything."
Todd paused for a moment before speaking, "I want noodles. Can you make them, Dad?"
This was the first time he had willingly called Ivan "Dad" and the first time he had made a request on his own.
Ivan naturally wouldn't refuse. "Alright, just wait, you guys. Breakfast will be ready soon."
Owen and Angela continued playing.
Keith cast a significant glance at Todd. "Do you actually like noodles?"
"What if I do?" Todd replied, lips tightening. "I believe Dad can pull it off."
Ivan retreated to the kitchen, shutting the door behind him. He retrieved his phone from his pocket.
With a few taps, he accessed a browser and began to search for instructions on how to make noodles.
