Chapter 667
Ariana was led to the conference room by the secretary.
Upon pushing the door open, she expected to see a room full of participants at the conference table, but to her surprise, there were only three people present.
Ariana furrowed, feeling that something was off.
"Who are you, and where is Haley?" Ava stood up and coldly questioned.
Ariana took a deep breath and said, "I'm Ariana, Haley's assistant. I'm here to attend the meeting on her behalf."
"Haley knows she's become a pariah, so she doesn't dare to show up?" Ava mocked sarcastically. "I thought she was something special, but without the Winston family, she's just a paper tiger!"
"Sit down," Hollis said coldly. "With all the sarcasm, where's your noble demeanor?"
Ava snorted and sat back down.
Craig coughed and said calmly, "Since you're here, let's get to the point."
As soon as Ariana sat down, Craig pushed a document towards her. "This is the approval from the higher-ups regarding our chip design. You can take a look."
Ariana flipped through the pages, and her expression changed. After quickly scanning through the remaining pages and said incredulously, "This is nonsense. Our company's chip design couldn't possibly have these flaws. This is a deliberate attempt to frame us."
"This conclusion was reached after scientific testing. The chip designed by your Star Technical Company can steal customer privacy information and monitor their calls and chat records," Craig said seriously. "If this report is submitted to the police, your company will be sued."
Ariana looked at the bright red stamp on the document, confirming it was an official conclusion.
But Star Technical Company had conducted internal tests, and the chip had no issues, which meant the Vanguard Corporation had colluded with the authorities.
"If you want to settle this quietly, you will need to compensate ten times the original commission." Craig tapped the table lightly. "We don't want to blow this up and damage reputations. Let's resolve this privately and save face for both parties."
"Ten times the compensation? That's several hundred million dollars. Do you think our company's money grows on trees?" Ariana's voice trembled with anger. She pointed at the people in front of her and said through gritted teeth, "I suspect that this so-called chip flaw was a setup by Mr. Morris and Mrs. Lumi! Mrs. Lumi suffered a loss at Haley's hands last time, so you want to get back at her. The Lumi Group has always been aboveboard, but I never expected Mrs. Lumi to come up with something like this for personal gain..."
Ava slapped hard on Ariana's face.
Ava shook her slightly numb right hand and said coldly, "Who do you think you are to talk to my mom like that?"
Ariana held her burning cheek, full of disbelief.
She never expected Ava to actually hit her.
In a society governed by law, she was slapped by Ava.
"Go back and tell Haley, either pay ten times the penalty or see us in court," Hollis tossed the compensation plan over and said calmly. "Escort her out."
Two bodyguards at the conference room door came in and forcefully escorted Ariana out.
Ariana glared angrily at the three people in the conference room and stormed out.
"One should consider the consequences before acting. Ava, you shouldn't have been so impulsive," Craig said disapprovingly.
"Mr. Morris, what are you afraid of? Her boss is Haley, but Haley is nothing now!" Ava mocked. "A month ago, Haley married into the Winston family and became the glamorous young mistress of the Winston family. She probably didn't expect that just a month later, she'd be kicked out. She went against the Winston family, and now she can't survive in Watertown. We have no reason to fear her."
