Chapter 966
Camilla lay on the hospital bed, letting the doctor do her thing.
"You're in great shape, no big issues," the doctor said.
Camilla lifted her shirt, pointing to a scar on her abdomen. "Is this from an appendectomy?"
The doctor adjusted her glasses and touched the scar. "Usually, a C-section scar would be here for delivering a baby."
Camilla's heart dropped. She had given birth. Samantha never mentioned this, but it was clear everyone in the Jenkins Family knew.
Camilla took a deep breath and asked, "Can you tell when I might've had the C-section based on the scar's healing?"
The doctor looked at her, puzzled by the odd question.
"Please, help me out here," Camilla said, pulling out a stack of cash and placing it on the desk.
The doctor didn't take the money. "Go get an ultrasound and bring the results back."
An hour later, Camilla returned with the ultrasound results.
The doctor said, "Your uterus has healed well. It usually takes about three to four years after childbirth to look like this."
Camilla frowned. "So, I had a C-section three or four years ago?"
"That's about right."
"Thanks, doctor." Camilla stuffed the results into her purse and left the hospital, her eyes cold.
She only had three years of memory. The Jenkins Family told her she washed ashore in Brussville and they saved her. Because of that, they adopted her.
Camilla pondered, 'If I was pregnant then, why didn't Mom mention it? And if I had given birth, how could Nicole be so sure I had a child?'
She needed to ask Samantha directly. Camilla drove back to the Jenkins Mansion.
The Jenkins Family was well-known in Brussville, but their wealth was old money. Over the past decade, other families had surpassed them. Still, people in Brussville always mentioned the Jenkins Family when talking about prominent families.
The mansion was in a busy area but was a quiet retreat, covering over ten thousand square feet. It was classical and elegant with a unique architectural style.
"Mrs. Jenkins, you underestimate the Reynolds Family," Bradley's mom, Ellen Reynolds, said, putting down her teacup with a smile. "I only have one son. How could I let him marry your adopted daughter? I'd have no objection if Nicole were to marry him. But Camilla... Mrs. Jenkins, I can't agree."
Samantha wasn't bothered by Ellen's attitude.
Over the past decade, the gap between the two families had widened, and Ellen saw herself as superior.
Samantha took a box from beside her and slowly opened it. "When the Jenkins Family first met Camilla three years ago, she was wearing this Heart of the Ocean necklace. We saw this necklace at an auction over twenty years ago. It sold for over twenty million dollars back then. It's been auctioned multiple times since, and its current value should be over fifty million dollars."
Ellen, who loved collecting jewelry, immediately recognized the necklace as genuine. She couldn't afford it when it was auctioned in Brussville.
