Chapter 728
Haley's eyes widened. She hadn't expected Isabel to have a gun; she'd been careless. Quickly, she scanned the room for something to use as a weapon.
A rustling sound came from the bed. Both Haley and Isabel turned to see Leonardo, who had been lying half-dead, now propped up.
Leonardo's eyes were cold. "Isabel, are you planning to kill someone on my turf??"
Isabel's hand shook, and with a clatter, the gun fell to the ground. "I..."
"Guards!" Leonardo called. The guards entered. "Escort Miss Spencer out. She's not allowed back without my permission."
Isabel's eyes widened in shock. Before she could protest, the guards firmly escorted her out. Her face twisted in anger. She had come to kill Leonardo on her father's orders but had hesitated.
If she got another chance, she would not hesitate to plunge a dagger into Leonardo's chest!
After the two guards escorted Isabel out, they gently closed the door.
The room was left with just Haley and Leonardo. Haley looked at Leonardo, feeling both sorry for his injury and a gentle joy. He had chosen her over Isabel.
She picked up the soup and walked over. "I heard you were hurt, so I came to check on you. Can you drink some soup now?"
Leonardo looked at her. "You said I am your man."
His voice was weak but firm. Haley blushed. She had never said such words, even to Ivan.
She sat by the bed and asked, "And how do you feel about that?"
"I want to make it a reality," Leonardo replied resolutely.
Haley smiled. As she prepared to feed him the soup, she noticed a bowl of medicine nearby. "Let's have the medicine first."
She offered the spoon to Leonardo.
Leonardo's lips parted slightly, and the bitter medicine slid down his throat, but his heart was filled with a touch of happiness.
He finished the medicine, and Haley got a spoonful of soup to his lips. Suddenly, Leonardo seized her wrist, his voice now icy and severe. "What did you put in the medicine?"
