Chapter 80 Where did this child come from?
"Ben, what's going on?" Luke went downstairs to handle some matters and saw Ben, the usually tall and mighty captain of the security team, lying on the ground in a rather ridiculous manner.
Ben touched his nose and said, "A little girl broke in and hid under a table. Luke, what should we do?"
Luke glanced under the table. Since the tablecloth was lifted by Ben, he could clearly see the little girl's wide eyes. Those eyes were full of vigilance, fear, and unease. Although the lighting was dim under the table, Luke could still see clearly that this was a lovely little girl.
Luke said, "This child looks to be just over three years old. Her parents should be nearby. Let's not scare the child and bring her to the lounge to wait for her parents to claim her."
Ben agreed and crawled under the table to pick up the little girl. Angela looked at the hand reaching out towards her, frightened, she let go of the table corner and turned to run.
"Hey, don't run!" By the time Ben emerged from under the table, Angela's figure had already disappeared into the lobby.
Luke glanced, taking the files and heading upstairs. He had too many things to deal with every day, and one child didn't attract much of his attention.
He entered the CEO's office with the files, about to report his work when he heard Ivan on the phone.
"He ran away again? Send more people to look for him." Luke knew immediately that Owen must have escaped again. Seeing Ivan hang up the phone, holding his brow with a cold expression on his face, Luke was getting ready to report to him.
He didn’t have good news to report, and as soon as he would start talking, Mr. Winston would surely scold him. Even if Mr. Winston doesn't scold him, the cold atmosphere around him is enough to bear.
He swallowed his saliva and tried to smile, saying, "Mr. Winston, there's no need to worry too much. Kids nowadays are smart. Owen is four years old, and he won't get lost."
Ivan's voice was cold and low, "I actually wish he would get lost."
Luke continued dryly, "I just went downstairs to pick up some documents and saw a little girl running into the Winston Group building without any adults accompanying her. It's giving the security guards a headache."
"Can anyone just break into the Winston Group building now?" Ivan's voice grew even colder, "Next time you see a child coming in, throw them out right away!"
Luke felt like crying. He mentioned the little girl to try to ease the tension, but he didn't expect Mr. Winston to get even angrier. He resignedly opened the files and began reporting on the project.
At 10 a.m., Ivan was scheduled to inspect the factory. A group of people surrounded him as they stepped out of the elevator, striding confidently towards the exit. The security guard at the entrance of the Winston Group building stood up straight, saluting and greeting, "Mr. Winston!"
Ivan's expression remained blank, exuding an imposing aura that made people afraid to look directly at him. Luke quickly went to open the door to the back seat.
Just then... a little girl in a pink dress rushed out from the flowerbed and headed straight for Ivan. She embraced Ivan's thigh tightly. There was a moment of silence on the scene.
After the silence, Luke's voice trembled slightly, "Ben, quickly, take this child away!"
Ben was almost scared to death. Wasn't this little girl supposed to have run away earlier? How did she end up hiding in the flowerbed? She even audaciously hugged Mr. Winston's thigh. This was simply outrageous!
Ben walked over with a fierce look and grabbed Angela by the back of her collar.
